Be careful of what you write, sometimes it might come true
Waking that Saturday morning, Alice stared out into the blaze of the sun. She began to squint, then sat up, looking at her papers. After a long hard stare, she got up, showered, then walked downstairs. "Hey mom," she called out, "I'm going to the library." Silence reigned for a while as The Shapeshifter waited for a response. "Mom?" Peering into the kitchen, she discovered cold breakfast and a small note: "Went to work, heat up breakfast, orange juice in the fridge." Sighing, Alice ate then pulled out her phone to text her mother that she was going to the library.

Sitting at the table, she looked back at the papers, analyzing them. She was missing something and she knew it, she just didn't know what. Her eyes were glued to that paper, as she was unable to capture it. This bothered her so, eventually she tossed them down angrily and went to researching again. No one was at the library except for the librarian himself. Noticing her ordeal, he walked over casually. "We don't approve of that sort of behavior." he said gently. Alice looked up at him, a little shocked.

"Sorry." She looked at the computer screen, pale faced. "I'm just having trouble with this story. The librarian glanced at the papers on the table, "Ah, so The Shapeshifter is on her next big 'project', hm?" His voice carried throughout the library, making her look up at him curiously, "You remember my old work?" she asked, awes-trucked by his commentary. He simply nodded and read through her rough draft calmly. "Well," he said, raising his eyebrows, "this is really powerful, already I can see Luis's discomfort with the fabrics of reality deteriorating right in front of him.

Blinking, Alice turned back to the screen. Her face was completely red from embarrassment. Once more everything was quiet before something caught her attention, "You know," started the librarian, "there's something missing." Turning her head, Alice looked up at him as he looked up thoughtfully. "You're missing a voice," he stated bluntly, "See, we know what he's going through but we can't feel it when he talks. It's just a bunch of words." Shaking her head, she reread her work, trying to notice what he meant. Now that he mentioned it, she could start to see it too, but the whole thing was just unimaginably hard to comprehend unless she was someone else.

"Naturally, it can be fixed," he continued, "See, all you have to do is place yourself in his shoes." Alice looked up at him, "I've tried!" she retorted. Backing off a little, he gave her another thoughtful look and tilted his chin gently up, exaggerating his 'thinking' pose. "In that case, mind if I be the voice of Luis?" Smirking slightly, Alice could figure that was his intentions; then again, anyone who've read her stories fall head over heels with them. To her it was only natural, so she pondered; she never had anyone she based her character off of, maybe he was the first way to start. "Sure," she replied at last, "I think it'll be great for the story."
