As many of you know, Rwanda was a terribe incident in 1994. More than one million people were slaughtered. It was not an easy death either, and not from modern technology. They died, not by bombs or bullets, or even gas, but by machete.
The black people were murdered brutaly by a steel blade; it was cruel and unfair. The most disgusting part of this was not the body count after, but the reason for it. The people were determined traitors or not by the width of their nose, and the hue of black on their skin.
I am young, and merely saw the video "Hotel Rwanda." I have no experience with death, and I can only imagine the horrors the Rwandan people went through. Sure, I've read books, and I've seen movies that describe the horrors of war, but all of these, especially the movies, cannot depict what actually happens. I can tell by the look of the people that their well fed and are only made up to look like their are dying of starvation. Even I, living in a very tame community compared to most of the world, know that the real thing is much, much worse.
This act of bias is repeated throughout history. For example, the Nazi's and the Jewish people, the Europeans and aboriginals of North-America. Genocide and racism happen, and there is no escaping it, no matter how hard you try to hide the fact. The thing that really gets me though is that the whole world knew about it, and no one tried to help.
My favourite line in "Hotel Rwanda", is when Paul pulls the American camera man away from dinner and thanks him for shooting the footage of the massacres. The man replied, "Don't thank me, the footage wont help at all. Americans will see it and say, 'Oh wow, that's horrible,' then continue eating their dinner. They will go back to there lives and forget about it." To me, that statement is true.

I don't know, I'm doing this because I am bored and I have nothing else to do.

p.s. not all Americans are like that! I want to volunteer in Vietnam or third world countries after college and medical school!
