Title: The Big Question
It was on February 28th 2009 that Doug was going to make the question of a lifetime. Doug was 19 years old, about 5’5 height, black long hair, hazel eyes and a slight 5 o’clock shadow. Doug’s the kind of guy that loves nature, enjoys the sound of the ocean and that loves to see the sunrises as well for the sunsets. Doug was in love with a girl named Glenda and they were dating for about a year and 2 months. Glenda was 18 years old, about 5’2 height, long curly brown hair, beautiful big brown eyes and with a smile of a thousand suns. Glenda was Doug’s reason to live, his reason to have faith, to love. Doug has never felt this way for a person in his whole life and that’s why he wanted more than just a simple relationship. Doug never thought he would ever find someone as perfect as Glenda. Someone that has almost everything in common with him like they both like the same type of music, they love to write poems, same taste of style, even the food they eat.
Doug had it all planned out from the moment he knew that he wanted to spend a lifetime with Glenda. Doug was waiting for a specific day to ask Glenda the big question. Anxious for that day to come, Doug spent days and nights talking to himself in the mirror, practicing and practicing all the things he wants to say before the big question. Still, even though Doug was so sure for himself about Glenda he couldn’t help thinking that maybe Glenda would not agree to such thing. As for any couple in some conversations the word “Marriage” seems to pop out of the blue. Everytime that Doug and Glenda Talk about “Marriage” Glenda seems to avoid such conversation, as for Doug he was always saying that there’s nothing more beautiful than sharing your life with that special someone, to have a family of their own, to know that you are being loved by the love of your life.
As the days passes by and Doug keeps falling deeper and deeper in love with Glenda, in a state that he completely forgets about how bad and cruel this world is, the only thing that goes through his mind was the love of his life and how things would be if Glenda would come to understand the beauty of sharing ones own life with that person. Doug knows and he comprehends the word “Love” he understand the meaning, he knows the sacrifices that one must make just to show how much he loves Glenda. Doug has done bad things just to show Glenda that he will do just about anything to be with her. He distanced himself from his friends, he ignore all the bad words that was going around about Glenda, he basically turn his back on the ones who always been there for him, all to show Glenda how much he loves her.
Blinded by the love Doug feels towards Glenda, inside he knew that something bad was going to happen but he just didn’t care and just ignored it. Only a few days away for the date Doug planned he started to have more bad feelings, like spiders just crawling up inside of him, still Doug was preparing himself for that moment.
Finally the day has come, filled with excitement Doug took Glenda to the beach. They spent hours walking around the coast listening to songs they dedicated to each other, throwing pebbles at the sea, picking up different type of shells to make necklaces, played some volleyball, and in some times they just lie down and just stare at the clear blue sky. Doug was very happy knowing that everything was going so perfect, they stood up and Doug hugs and kisses Glenda out of the blue and tells her that he loves her more than life itself, Glenda blushes and looks down tells him that she loves him too. Doug quickly grabs her and just spins around with her with joy.
It’s 6:30 pm, Doug and Glenda are sitting by some rocks in front of them watching the sunset, as they watch the sunset go they started to cuddle around. Finally the night strikes and there’s a crescent moon, no clouds and the stars shinning more than ever, it’s the perfect moment to ask the big question. Doug reaches for his pocket and takes out a little box. Glenda sees the box that Doug holds in his hand and ask him, “Doug, What’s That Box You Have There?” Doug looks deeply into Glenda’s eyes and tells her, Glenda from the moment I met you I knew that I would fall in love with you, I knew that I would want to spend a lifetime with you from the second I fell in love with you, I’ve never felt this way for anyone before, you’ve done things that I can’t explain how you did them, I feel so safe with you, I can be myself with you and you wont judge me, we have so much in common and that’s just something that makes me feel out of this world. Glenda I love you with all my heart, you’re the apple of my eye, the air for my balloon, the cheese for my nachos, you complete me. Doug opens the box for Glenda and shows her a ring, Glenda was shocked when she saw the ring, Doug left her speechless. All nervous on the inside Doug holds Glenda’s hand as he says, “Glenda, Would You Marry Me?” Glenda looked at him with a smile and says “Yes Doug, I Do Want To Marry You”. Doug was surprised of the answer, so surprised that he shed a tear from the excitement and quickly hugs Glenda without hesitation. Doug was so happy that he just couldn’t stop crying out of the excitement, the date ended and Doug took Glenda to her house, he walked Glenda to the door and kissed her goodnights.
Three months later…
Glenda appeared in Doug’s house and knocked on his door, Doug opens the door and he sees Glenda with no ring up on her finger. Doug ask Glenda, “What’s Wrong Dear?” Glenda gives back the ring that Doug gave her when he propose to her. Confused as he takes back the ring he ask Glenda “Why, What Happened?”. Glenda told Doug that she couldn’t marry him, that he deserves better than her, Doug asked once more what happened. As Glenda takes a step back she answers…”I Cheated On You And That’s Why I Can’t Do This Anymore” Glenda Runs Away Crying. Sad and angry at the same time, Doug Throws the ring far far away and just stands there thinking to himself, I knew it! Why did I ignore all those signs. Furious and depressed he went inside and grabs a knife and screams, “I Will Never Find Someone That Will Fill My Heart Like She Did!”, as he looks up at the sealing he cuts his forearms repeatedly until he couldn’t had the strength to cut himself . He flooded the kitchen floor with his blood, poor Doug ended his life cause he had his heart broken.
