I just tested for my red belt in Tae Kwon Do and even though I wasn't expecting it Mr. Blackstock asked me to break 3 real boards. One with knife hand strike(which I was supposed to do on a rebreakable board) one with a palm heel and the last one with a flying side kick. I had been trying for a while and had a bruise on my hand when practicing the knife hand strike on the rebreakable board and when I did it at the testing on a REAL board I didn't feel it at all as my hand went through it. ON THE FIRST TRY blaugh blaugh blaugh
When I did my palm heel strike I almost did it just standing in a front stance. (which wouldn't have broken)I stopped before I tried to. then I remembered I'm supposed to go from a back stance to a front stance, and I broke that ON THE FIRST TRY blaugh blaugh blaugh
My flying side kick when I did it THE FIRST TIME I hit the board and I didn't think that it broke untill I heard it crack.
Mr. Storm (one of the instructors)after the testing told me that my hand was shaking really bad before I did the first break (knife hand) and he told me that IF I didn't break on the first try(I did though) that he would've switched places with the other board holder to hold for me.
