Salathielly's Commonplace Log
Christmas
It went better than expected, really. Mom was up late wrapping gifts, as usual. Usually we open presents first thing in the morning, but since my sister was at her boyfriend's family's instead of here, I read part of a Discworld book instead, which was fine by me. Then my sister and her boyfriend got in, and we went to see my mom's parents. Papa is recovering well from his surgery, although he's still in pain. I feel bad that my aunt couldn't come, but she's still sick. I'm sure she was lonely, though. Then we went over to my dad's parents' house. We exchanged gag gifts (I got Andes mints, and nobody stole mine, amazingly), and the baby and our grandparents got some gifts as well. Everyone was there, which was nice. My uncle even brought one of his dogs, although it wasn't to be his much longer, as it was going to a new home. Papillons are cute dogs, though. Then we came home and opened gifts here. Lots of stuff, as usual. My sister and I gave our parents pasta from one of her friend's fundraisers. Mom gave my sister's boyfriend lots of artsy ties for when he's a teacher. My sister got me a librarian action figure. I received a calendar (Van Gogh), the annual carousel ornament (I think I have one for every Christmas I've been alive), some poetry books by a poet I've never heard of but ought to be good, a Karen Armstrong book, the next book in the Imaginarium Geographica series, the boxed set of LOTR extended editions, a crock pot (for me and my sister, technically), some candy, and lots of other little stuff. Oh! And this book from the kimono exhibit that I saw last winter.

Too bad all the snow melted before Christmas.
