Confessions of a Techie
my random thoughts and crap
something something, DARK SIDE
SO apparently dA doesn't want me to post journal entries. SO I post it here for now

Full Name: Casie Anne Connolly
Nickname(s): Casie
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Race/Species: Squib
Class/Occupation: Engineer
Place of Origin: Skor II, although she did grow up on a ship

Appearance
Casie stands at one meter, or three point two eight feet in height, and is rather vulpine in appearance, although she does lack the prehensile tail common to other vulpine species, and her eyes are more amber than brown. Her hair, though long, is usually kept bound back either in a braid or a bun. While her fur is a mid-dark blue, her hair is typically dyed in varying shades of blue. She does dress rather conservatively, to hide scars that are, as she puts it, "from another life", however, it is extremely rare to find her wearing any form of skirt or dress, although she does occasionally wear the former over top of pants. Aside from that, she typically is found in either coveralls, or pants and a long-sleeved shirt, with heavy workboots. She is never found without her clan pendant around her neck, as it is the only thing she has left of her parents. Aside from that, she's never found without her tools and blaster.

Personality
To put it bluntly, Casie's a b***h. Not in the typical "it's all about me" sense, but in the "cross me and you're so dead" sense. She's not afraid to tell someone where exactly they can put it and how far up they can shove it. That being said, she is extremely loyal to her friends, although she will gut them if they betray her. She does have an odd fear of high-ranking males, due to some trauma caused by several high-ranking male officers in her past, both during her prisoner days, and her days at the New Republic Armed Forces Academy. Relationships with people aside, Casie is a true technophile, and she's usually found elbow-deep in some project or other.

Personal History
Coming soon(after I finish Ashes)

Family Background
Aside from her sister, her half-brother, and her b*****d daughter, Casie doesn't know anything about her biological family, as she grew up as a slave, so she considers the people she works with her family.

Roleplay/Personality Example
Streets, Shedyet

Casie cautiously eased her head up over the pile of rubble that blocked easy access to one of the plazas that led to the palace. It looked clear, but looks could be deceiving. Plus, it wasn't like she had armour on, just boots, pants, and a simple undershirt. Her uniform blouse had been ripped up to make crude bandages and slings.

Fate has a funny sense of humor, She though. Twelve techs, plus a couple medics, and only one blaster rifle between them. That was the reason everyone's uniform blouses had been cut up into slings as well as bandages: to give everyone a weapon to fight with. Great. She griped to herself. The most technologically advanced group on the planet, and what are we armed with? Sticks and stones. Just kriffing great.

She chanced a glance behind her, and noted that everyone who could crouch down was taking cover behind piles of rubble, door stoops, anything that could stop a blaster bolt. Those who couldn't attempted to conceal themselves in the shadows of doorways and around the corners of buildings. Each one held a loaded sling, ready to use at a moments notice. At the base of the pile she was on, Meraxa knelt cradling the single blaster rifle. As Fate would have it, he was the only person besides herself that was uninjured. Tactically, it made sense for one of the two of them to wield the rifle. Physically, he was the only one of the pair who could, as the rifle, a T-28 sniper rifle appropriated from a newly deceased scout trooper, was as big as she was.

With a jerk of her head, she motioned for him to come up to her position. The young man shouldered the rifle and scrambled up to where she was.

"Looks clear, but I want you to cover me while I check it out. My gut is telling me that something is off, but I'm not sure what."

"Got it, Casie." Meraxa whispered, barely masking the enthusiasm in his voice. It seemed like the young man found sneaking around in an occupied city fun. “You reckon someone's down there trying to kill us all, or something?”

“Yeah, or something. Care to cover me? Or would you like to keep talking so every stormie in the city can get a fix on where we are?”

"Sorry, Casie." He muttered. "While you're down there, check that rock pile. Looks suspicious to me. I could have sworn I saw a flash of movement down there."

"Right. Look, I'm not trying to be hard on you, but it's a little different fighting dirt-down than it is fighting on a ship. You have to rely more on stealth. Especially in urban warfare. Cover me." With a smooth, not quite graceful movement, Casie rolled up over the top of the barricade and slid soundlessly into the long afternoon shadows cast by the buildings surrounding the plaza.

She had almost made it to the rock pile when she stepped on a small piece of debris. That piece of debris, the remains of a glass bottle, shattered and crunched under the weight of her booted foot. She froze, silently cursing herself for her lack of attention. Up at the top of the rock pile, a face appeared, bearing a surprised expression that was quickly replaced by a mask of hatred. The owner of the face, a slim, petite female wearing an Imperial Army uniform bearing the rank emblem of a private, rushed down towards Casie, drawing a dagger from her belt. Casie's hand instinctively dropped to draw her standard-issue blaster from her belt. A blaster that wasn't there. Right as Casie realized her folly, a shot rang out from behind her, and the young woman rushing her dropped to the ground, a hole drilled through her forehead.

Casie stared for a moment at the lifeless corpse before turning around to locate the shooter. Right as she turned, Meraxa sidled up to her, his eyes constantly searching the windows looking down on the plaza.

"Thanks." Casie finally worked out, the adrenaline spike from the close encounter slowly subsiding.

"You're welcome." Meraxa replied, still watching the windows with suspicion. "Now are you going to just stand there, or are you gonna get that persons blaster?"

"Yeah yeah, in a second." Casie replied, stripping the body of everything useful. The weapons, mostly grenades, went in one pile. The tools and various assorted gear went into another. "Get the wounded up here. We need to plan our next move"

"Already on it. I suggest, however, that we go south and link up with our personnel in that area. They're more likely to have the medical supplies we need for this group.” Meraxa commented, indicating the walking wounded who were now assembling in the plaza. “Plus, it's harder for us to be followed without being spotted on open ranges."

"Agreed. But the city has more places to hide. Easier to move undetected. If we can get to the palace, we can ring up to Nautica, assuming she's still in orbit." Casie commented, more thinking out loud than talking to anyone. She proceeded to belt on the twin holsters that had belonged to the nameless ensign.”If we can't get to the palace, we find some place to hole up and we wait for reenforcement.”

"What if the rings aren't operational?”

“Let's worry about getting there first.” Casie told the young man, tucking the few grenades that hadn't been passed out to the group into her belt.

“Well, now that you're kitted up, shall we get moving?" Meraxa suggested. While the two had been discussing the groups next move, the wounded techs and medics had cautiously crouched down behind anything with mass, keeping a wary eye on as many places a threat could come from as possible.

"Right. The Palace, then?"

"Yeah. Aw, sithspit." Meraxa spat, before shouting out. "Stormtroopers! Scatter!"

Everyone not already under cover hit the deck, and Casie reached down to yank out a grenade from her belt and primed it. "Cover!" She yelled, before lobbing the sphere towards the platoon of Stormtroopers and Jaffa moving towards the group. The resulting explosion echoed around the plaza and, when the dust and smoke cleared enough to see through, Casie noted that the blast had not only taken out the troopers and Jaffa, but also the wall of a three story house.

"Get their weapons and anything useful." She ordered the group, drawing one pistol and gripping it in both hands. "Meraxa, watch for snipers. Move it people! That blast might have attracted some unwanted attention."
