Nixi was born to a clutch of five eggs. And luckily, this clutch had a female. A lamia. Girls are considered to be rare and only five females are born a year. And only certain females are born with a mark of queen ship. But we'll get to that later.

Nixi was born with a human form where everyone else had a regular snake tail. Each clutch it brought up isolated in their mother's territory until they are old enough to understand danger and proper greetings. Normally about five years into their life they have their first shedding. And that was when it was discovered Nixi had the mark of a queen upon her forehead.

So after she had shed and it was discovered she was whisked to the castle with 3 other candidates. The Queen was still alive and would not choose a candidate. IT was decided by the candidates. As in a battle to the death.

But they were not allowed to fight each other until their first heat which would be in about 20 years. Giving them time to mature into their powers and learn all that was needed to run a kingdom.

This was sadly where Nixi was at a disadvantage. Her clutch mates were supposed to come with her and be her guard and think tank. It was how it worked. But Nixi was classified as a 'mutation' due to the fact she walked up right instead of slithered. She had yet to transform into a true lamia and the other queens had yet to reach Nixi's state of two legs. It seemed Nixi was born in reverse.

And because of the fact she had a crest on her forehead [under the scales] that was the only reason she had not been killed. But her clutch mates decided not to come with her due to the fact that no one wanted a mutant as a queen. It was just not done.

It was when Nixi turned six that the queen had invited her and the other candidates to choose their familiar. The queens own familiar had birthed eggs and that was how things where done. The eggs would hatch and whatever was inside choose the candidates. It was tradition. They would form a mental and physical bond that kept them together. The familiar only dying when their 'master' dies.


Nixi's familiar was Savas. He was a tiny thing with two lumps on the side of his neck. Later head would grow there. But even though Nixi adored him, she was teased even worse for it. 'The freak gets a freak familiar how quaint' and other snarky comments.

Nixi spent a lot of time alone with her familiar and female guards as the candidates were not very close. Its hard to be close to the person you will kill eventually. But Nixi was isolated from men, as it would be considered disgraceful to take a man or mate before they became queens. And since she was left alone so much, Nixi decided when she would be queen, she'd set up a monarchy. Instead of the blood thirsty battles that took place for queen ship.

There weren't many females, so why battle them against each other. Even if it was only a select few. Around her 19th year she met once more with the queen, her and the other candidates to explain what their heat was going to be like. And making a mating mark and what it meant truly.

The next year the candidates had their first heat but since their clutch came with them they were able to walk about the castle grounds freely. As their brothers would protect them and negate the effects of heat. Being that they were closely related.

So Nixi was confined to her room with Savas who had actually grown three heads and was some what a marvel at court. He was the largest so far and seemed to be the most intelligent of the familiars. It was rumored he was so intelligent because his master was stupid.

It was on their 21'st year that the candidates were told it was time to choose the next queen. And so the other candidates ganged on Nixi who by then had came into her full powers and with the help of Savas they were killed.

And since Nixi killed the candidates, she had to kill their clutches too in an execution like style. It was to show that the new queen was ruthless. That too was a tradition. And in accordance, Nixi had to kill her own clutch as they were traitors to the queen.


And since the queen had not died yet, Nixi started traveling about the lands to learn to become a better Queen when it was her time. And ya...........
