Guilds
Gaia guilds are pretty cool. Their biggest problem can be activity over a period of time. The only guild I've been in that has lasted more than a year is the Gaia Gun Enthusiasts guild. As it is they seem to be almost dead. Most of the cool people have left. I'll get back to that.

Guilds have several advantages. You get to choose your own mods. Gaia mods still have jurisdiction, but they stay out of the way for the most part. With your own mods if there is a problem it is more likely that right then and there you can deal with a problem. With the regular forums I've been given "warnings" 3 or 4 months after the offense. Guilds also let you separate from people you don't agree with. For example the Gaia Gun Enthusiasts guild can pretty well separate those who like guns from those who don't so you can discuss your favorite assault rifle without having to deal with people who hate guns. Possibly my favorite advantage is how they seem to be exempt from most forum updates. When gaia adds a bunch of extra crap to the forums I don't care much for it, but in guilds it's not there. Unfortunately that also means if something goes wrong it can take a long tie for it to be fixed. Still when the normal forums act up it doesn't seem to touch the guilds ever.

I'll get back to the GGE now. It seems like several people have left. The original administration team is more or less gone now. Plate seems to have disappeared all together a year ago. Sierra has more or less abandoned gaia. He's a mod on Dead Frontier. I still see him on MSN from time to time. He mostly left for lack of activity. Freak also seems to have left. I never talked to him much so I don't know what's the deal with him. He's pretty cool though. Fresnel was appointed as a mod a while back so I guess for all intents and purposes he is the captain of the guild. He bounces between the GGE, a couple of zombie survival guilds, and the ED. Crash Maniac hasn't been on much in the last few months. I haven't seen him much outside of facebook. Horrified Survivor is in the military. Tokarov has been gone so long I can't remember the last time I saw him. The last time I can recall seeing him was over a year ago when he was complaining about his signature being disabled for racism. After that I don't remember him posting anymore. I have no idea what ever happened to Brock. Most of the time when he posted in there he was complaining about something or another so I guess nobody seems to have missed him that much. It would be a shame for the GGE to die.

Fresnel owns the Z Day Survival Guild. He bought it from a friend of his who made a zombie survival thread in Extended Discussion. It's died at least once, and it might again. It's running slow, but still reliable for now. A friend in the A Day Survival guild also linked us to a second guild he found that was more active, but had a lot of idiots talking about using Katanas and Desert Eagles and looting Walmart. These people they refer to as "tasty idiots". They went on a holy crusade to educate the guild and it looks like they've done a good job.

In General Discussion where I usually reside I found a 3rd zombie survival guild. Right now I'm something like the "expert zombie killer" of the guild. I look at myself as someone who seriously contemplates survival, but I'm by no means an expert or a zombie hunter. In fact a year ago I was probably just a step above tasty idiot status. Still I think some of them might think of me as the zombie god or something. Due to being active (and possibly my knowledge of survival) I was recently promoted to Crew status. It's not necessary due to the lack of activity, but it is flattering all the same. They're pretty nice guys there. It seems like the guild is still in its infancy and trying to grow. It could help if I advertise in my signature.
