Well as it is 3 months since my last entry I thought it prudent to give the few people who browse here an update of sorts.
My Conquest (car pictured in last post) is down until further notice. The ongoing 'no start' issue has finally been diagnosed as a bad fuel pump. The pump is stock and at least 23 years old, its had a good life, just sucks that it happened to die at a time when I would have liked to have enjoyed the car more. But thankfully it died at a good time, the stock turbocharger is also kaputs. Ive been browsing around and have come up with a plan of attack to fix these two linked issues, though it shall not be cheap...nor quick. The turbo itself will be upgraded from the stock mitsubishi 12a, to a modified mitsubishi Super 16G turbo with a larger turbine wheel to help keep it spooling into the late rpm's. This alone is gonna set me back an easy $450+, but will have a 20k mile warranty (or about a years driving for me). The fuel pump issue has also been thought out with a plan of attack to include replacing all the fuel system components that will be a jerk later in the cars life. Coming in at nearly $700 this entails replacing both injectors, innjector clips and wiring, all 3 fuel filters, the fuel pump with something more heavy duty and suited to higher power outputs, as well as also replacing a filler neck.
Ive also decided to put off on completely overhauling my nonturbo rx-7 until after the Conquest has been fixed, and possibly utill AFTER I seek out a new turbo rx-7 to feed my need for more power. But not to worry as Spade shall rise from the ashes reborn when time and energy allows it.
And how do I plan to pay for this you ask? Simple, ive also decided to try something i've protested doing for uite some time, ive put in with a staffing agency to help look for a higher paying and longer lasting mode of employment, and from the looks of things, I may hopefuy soon have such a job.
So heres hoping that the ext update will be from a new job, new payscale, and haing multiple running cars yet again.
