I read something like this in someone else's journal, and it's true.
People never get over things. Never. It can be easily forgotten and shoved away, but even the tiniest bit of a memory, or something related to a bad memory, will bring back the past. Example:
You had a bad breakup. It's been over a year, and you've always told yourself you're over the other person. Except something like this: you hear a song on the radio. Maybe that song was something you and your ex both loved, and hearing that certain song makes you have flashbacks to what used to be. Soon you start to feel depressed and possibly even lonely. Sad, isn't it?
Need another example if that wouldn't apply to yourself? Ok, here it is. You had a good, best friend. You were close as siblings for YEARS. You both start to grow up, and change ways and friends. Soon you fight and suddenly, never speak to eachother again. After a while, you "get over" the whole stupid thing and tell yourself there are other friends out there. Later on, you see pictures of you and this ex-best friend, or maybe notes from them when you were in school. You start to feel regretful and remorse that you ended things bad.
Through out your years, you WILL think about past things you supposedly got over; and wish things had been different. Nostolgia is a b***h that likes to bite back.
