MARKAN is a sleepy little town located somewhere in the southeastern United States. It has warm summers and mild winters, and is surrounded by forests. Its population is nothing to brag about, but its residents are a tight-knit bunch who do their best to look out for one another.


THE MINERVA FACILITY is a brand new hospital and medical laboratory that has decided to open its doors in Markan. Nestled away in the forest on the outskirts of town, it is possibly the biggest building in the area, and with its advanced treatments and equipment, it definitely gives smaller, family-owned clinics a run for their money.

HOWEVER... things aren't as they seem. The facility was founded by scientists and doctors whose practices or ideas were too unusual, and in some cases, unethical, for the mainstream medical/scientific community. They have many tactics for acquiring subjects for their experiments, from offering free 'volunteer programs' with undesirable (and hidden) strings attached, to outright kidnapping, and they use all sorts of methods to keep word of their doings from leaving the facility.

The people who work there are a mixed bag:

Some do it because the pay is higher than a usual hospital's, and they are talented at suppressing their conscience.

Some do it because they truly believe the facility will further medical and scientific progress (and mankind in the process).

Some do it because an unfortunate circumstance has locked them into the job.

And still some do it simply because they know the true excitement behind maltreatment and mutilation.

Regardless, everyone in the facility has blood on their hands, whether or not they want it there.
