Natalie's father looked down at his daughter, "You look so much like her."

"Like who papa?"

"Your mother. Listen, Natalie, This isn't going to be east to tell you. Your mother," Natalie sat patiently, looking around the empty classroom. "Your mother passed away in a car crash last night," her father managed to say.

"What?" Natalie was so shocked. "No, she couldn't have…I just saw her.” Then she remembered that she hadn’t seen her the day before. She couldn’t say anything and started to cry.

“Belle, Ian was with you, so you mother drove herself around. Last night, while she was driving home, she was trying to answer her phone and didn’t see the car in front of her. They said she was dead at the scene of the crash,” He started to cry, not able to keep calm anymore. “She wasn’t used to driving herself…”

They sat in silence, only hearing each other’s sobs. Natalie didn’t know what to say. Her father gently placed his hand over hers. “Your headmaster said that you could leave school to attend her funeral.”

“No! I don’t want to go,” Natalie still couldn’t believe her mother was dead.

“Alright Belle, but you mother would have wanted…”

Natalie cut him off, “Papa, did you call her last night?”

“No. I was in a meeting.” Natalie’s heart sank. Only two people had the number to her mother’s cell phone, Her and her father.

Her father’s phone rang, “Please excuse me Natalie. It is Japan.” Natalie nodded and he opened his phone. “Hello?”

Her father sat back down next to Natalie after getting off the phone. “They need me back in Japan as soon as I can get there.”

“I understand papa.”

He stood up. Natalie did the same and hugged him, not wanting to let go. “If you change you mind, Ian will take you back to Italy.”

“Okay papa.”

“Ciao ma belle,” He quickly walked to the door.

“Ciao papa,” Natalie called after him.

Natalie slowly walked to her dorm. She laid on her bed and cried for hours. Bianca cane in the room and saw her crying. She sat on the edge of Natalie's bed, "Are you alright?"

Natalie sat up and looked at Bianca, "Do I look alright?"

"Actually, you look like a mess. Come on. Let's get some dinner."

"No Bee, I don't want to."

"What happened?"

"I, I don't want to talk about it," Her stomach started growling. "On second thought, maybe I should get some food."

They left the room and walked to the cafeteria. Natalie cried the whole time. When they got their food, Natalie wanted to go back to their room, but Bianca made her sit down at a table. Cameron and Trevor came in the cafeteria.

"Hey guys!" Bianca called. Natalie figured she was tired of listening to her cry. After they got their food, they sat down with Bianca and Natalie.

"Hey. What's up?" Cameron asked. He looked at Natalie. "Whoa, are you alright?"

Natalie didn’t say anything. She just cried and pretended to eat.

Bianca knew Natalie wasn’t going to say anything, “Her dad came here today. I guess he gave her some bad news or something.”

“My mother died! Alright?”

Everybody was speechless. Cameron kept glancing at Natalie in between bites with a sympathetic look in his eyes. Bianca scooted closer to Natalie, and Trevor kept glancing around the room.

“So how did she die?” Cameron asked trying to break the silence.

“She was answering her phone, not paying attention to the road. She didn’t see the car in front of her. She died instantly in the car crash,” Natalie could feel her throat tighten after every word. Everyone went silent again.

“It was an accident Nat,” Bianca said, trying to be encouraging.

“You don’t understand!” Natalie said, shaking her head. “I killed her. If I didn’t call her last night…”

Cameron cut her off, “Natalie, don’t say that! It was an accident. You didn’t know.”

“I’m going back to our room Bee.” She got up and ran out of the cafeteria.

Tawny sat down, taking Natalie’s place. “What’s her problem?” She asked, staring at the doors. Everybody just glared at her. Cameron ran after Natalie.

“What?” Tawny asked Bianca and Trevor, who were staring at her in disbelief.
