Mickey's Story
There was a long pause after the King spoke. Minutes might have ticked by, or maybe it was only a few mere seconds, but the silence stretched through the entire room. "Why us?" Madison asked after the silence. "We haven't done anything wrong. ….It's all our grandparents who this monster should have a grudge against; not us. I mean, I know that we get condemned because of guilty by association and being the latest of their family lines but…." Her head dropped and her gaze shifted for nothing for a moment. "How can you expect us to solve any of this? To make amends for the sins of pasts that aren't even ours? We're just kids… we can't do anything…. We can barely fight; we're not heroes…. Demyx, Luxask and Vexen stand a chance, yeah. But what makes you think we'll last five minutes outside fighting your war?" The red-head looked up as she asked the last question; the expression on her face hard to pin. Scared and saddened, though maybe it was just the authority-challenging piece of her that came up whenever she was confident said figure truly had not idea what the hell was going on.

Mickey sighed. He expected as much from at least one of them. He was asking a lot, he knew that, and he had barely anything to offer the children. Nothing really than the this-is-your-responsibility and you-are-the-only-ones-who-can-do this speeches. "Madison…. Do you know the story of how the darkness in people's hearts came to be? No? Do any of you?" He looked across the children but of course, none of them really knew. He smiled slightly, for some reason always being able to become inspired by the story. Bringing his eyes back to Madison, he began the story. "Long ago, all the worlds were connected as one and a warm light connected it. The people loved the light, and at a length, they began to fight for it. Thus darkness was born in the people's hearts. The darkness swallowed many hearts and much of the light and before long, it had spread far; and the world disappeared into the darkness." He could see Zoltan's face change just slightly when the young man realized he was going to censor a large part of the story, probably the most significant part but the mouse continued anyway.

"However, inside the hearts of the children, there was still a spark of light. And by gathering the fragments of light, the children recreated the world. However, the world that was created is not all connected and is now made of many small pieces that form the worlds we know today. That's because the true light is still sleeping within the darkness…. Or at least that's how the tale goes."

"Then… the children were the Princesses of Heart?"

Mickey smiled. "Not necessarily, but they were the originals you could say. The ancestors of them, so to speak."
