My stories
Cassidy sat in the backseat of their family car staring out the window. She had been in there all day and was getting tired of sitting around. It was their anual family vacation, where they spent a week doing something. This year they were taking a trip to look at things around the Grand Canyon, and then finnishing it off with a trip to the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Cassidy couldn't say she was the most excited in the world to take the vacation, but that could also be because she was tired of riding in the car for 12 hours a day, to get from Minnesota to the Grand Canyon.

Cassidy turned her head to look at her sister Stacy. For being sisters they looked nothing alike. Stacy took after their dad. She had long, dark brown hair that came down past her shoulders. Unlike her sister Cassidy's hair was short and more of a sandy blonde color. Cassidy was about the average hight for her age, 15, unlike her sister who was tall for her age ,11, so they were almost the same hight. The only thing that was alike about the two girls was the fact that they both had dark brown eyes. Only her's were covered by glasses.

Stacy turned and looked at Cassidy, "What are you looking at??" she asked in her "whats your problem* voice.
"Your face. Got a problem with that," Responded Cassidy who was quite pleased at her comeback.
"You call that a comback??" said Stacy.
"Well your's isn't any better!" said Cassidy.
"Shut up!"
"No you SHUT UP!"
"Why don't you both shut up!" Yelled their dad,"Please just go back to whatever you were doing and don't look at each other!"

Cassidy turned and looked out the window again. This is what usually happend when her and her sister were locked up in a car for twelve hours. Actually it tends to happen on a daily bases but that wasn't the current problem. Cassidy wasn't sure how much more she could take and this was only day two. Silently Cassidy picked up her book and began to read.

"Look! This looks like a good place to stop and rest! This muesum looks interesting," said Cassidy's mom.

Cassidy wasn't even a chapter into her book yet. She looked up to see that they were stopping at an old west museum. "How fun," Cassidy thought to herself," Just what we need to stop at a museum for hours and then still be riding in the car at ten o' clock at night."

They pulled up in front of the museum. It was a big museum, two stories high, but it looked very old. Cassidy wasn't sure what to make of it. The family got out of the car and headed inside. Luckly it wasn't too crouded.

“Ok everybody,” said Cassidy’s mom, “Let’s split up and look around. We will meet back here in 1 hour, so keep track of the time!”

Everybody headed off in their own direction. Cassidy began to wander a little bit. Not knowing where to go she started for a cowboy exhibit to the right of the museum. She really did like museums. She loved reading the information and finding things out. She was just glad that they decided to split up because she was really slow and everybody always complained for her to speed up.

Cassidy slowly made her way through the museum’s exhibits, carefully reading everything. She glanced at the clock and realized she had only five minutes left. “Oh well,” Cassidy thought to herself, “Maybe we will find a place to stop and rest for the night around here?”

She decided to head back to the main entrance to wait. This time she would be the first there instead of the last. On her way back to the main entrance, Cassidy ran into an exhibit that startled her. Sitting under a glass casing were the five most beautiful necklaces she had ever seen. Well three were actually necklaces; two of them were actually pediments. In front of the necklaces were two handprints cemented in clay.

The three necklaces were made up of three small oval gemstones, outlined in a silver trim, connected together by a silver chain. Each necklace featured a different gemstone. The first necklace was her favorite. It had three deep purple, amethyst crystals, which is her birthstone. The second and third necklaces were just directly behind the first one. The second necklace was made up of three emeralds, and the third made up of three onyx gemstones.

The two pediments were just in back or the three necklaces. Each pediment had a slightly larger gemstone outlined in a gold trim. The gemstone one each of the pediments was attached to a thick string. One of the pediments had a ruby gemstone, the other had a sapphire.

“Wow how beautiful,” Thought Cassidy, “I think I have time to look at this one exhibit!” Cassidy headed over to the exhibit. When she got there she noticed a sign underneath it, giving information on the subject.

These gemstones that you see here are a small mystery of the west. No one knows how they were made or when they were made. We only know that they are a work of great craftsmanship. They came into the museums possession in the year 1984. They were brought in by a man named Robert Notia. He claimed to have bought it from a man who's name is unknown.

There is supposedly a legend behind these stones that Robert Notia shared with us. It was the only thing he knew about the stones. He said that legend has it that these stones have a great amount of power. When dark ages come again five people will be able to have this power will be gifted with it. The one who is able to gain all the power to pass on to their comrades will be drawn there when it is time, and the others with the power will be drawn to him/her. If the hand prints match up with the ones in cement the power will be given and a new era will start.

Please feel free to try this out by placing your hands on the cement but do not touch the other parts of this exhibit. Thank You.

“Wow this has nothing to do with history,” thought Cassidy, “Just another mystery to make people here fantasize. I bet it isn’t true at all. I bet the person who gave it to them was drunk! I mean really like that is possible.” Cassidy started to walk away, but then carefully turned around. “Still,” she thought. “It wouldn’t hurt to try. I mean it is all in fun. Who knows maybe I will get some crazy new powers.”

Cautiously Cassidy approached the handprints. They were cemented in clay and directly in front of the necklaces. Carefully Cassidy placed both her hands into the prints. “Hmmm,” she thought, “They fit perfectly.” Suddenly a bright light started shooting out all around her. “What’s with this light?” Cassidy thought, “I can’t see a thing!” All she could see was brightness, and then just like it had started it died down and vanished.

Cassidy looked around and noticed a few people were eyeing her cautiously, but other then that everything seemed normal. “Didn’t they see that light,” she thought, “It was so bright! Maybe I was just imagining it. It probably was just the gemstones reflecting off my glasses. But still…”

“Cassidy there you are!”
Cassidy turned to see who was calling her and noticed it was just her sister Stacy.
“You’re late. Mom and Dad told me to come and get you!” called Stacy.
“Oh I am sorry about that, my bad,” Cassidy yelled back.
“Well hurry up! Mom and Dad want to get on the road and stop at the closest hotel ok?”
“Don’t worry I will be right there,” and Cassidy went to rejoin her family.
Like always she was the last one to arrive.
