Prologue: Maria
On the park bench sat Maria with a smile on her face and her thoughts in the sky. She looked at the pigeons that gathered around and the geese that settled in the pond. The sun was bright and the sky was clear. Maria looked at her cell phone: it was 3:00pm. Where is Vincent? She thought to herself. That is when she looked up and saw Vincent. He was in her direction, but he did not stop when he got close to her- he kept running. Maria was confused. She decided to chase after him. She lost him when he ran into a cave. The cave was dark and foreboding; Maria stood at the entrance.
“Vincent, where are you?” Maria called in the darkness. “I can’t see anything.”
“I’m inside,” answered Vincent.
