Felt like a million years, but after Thanksgiving pass, we took over rear detachment's duties from the 1st to the 20th so that they could have their vacation. Now it's only been three days and it feels like s**t's going way too fast despite the fact that I'm home until the 4th.

When I make my rounds, the shooting ranges and gun shops seem damn near empty. Not because they're going out of business, according to everyone, but because people haven't stopped buying weapons, ammunition, and accessories despite the current national circumstances.

I can attest to that myself. The two newest additions to my pocket are a two-tone Sig 220 that's gone through a Robar package, and a Baikal Makarov in .380, imported by a company in Tuscon.

All this paranoia over Obama and the future of firearms legislation is ridiculous, and most of the gun community seems to realize that. Mayhap it's just the fervor of holiday splurging. The only thing I see him likely to do is re-ban hicap mags, and even then it doesn't really make them disappear or anything, it just artificially jacks up the price in private sales since everyone has already purchased a whole bunch in anticipating this in the first place.

Did you know that my right to carry is actually quite hindered more as a service member than if I was still a civilian? Somewhat irritating, that.
