Land of Dikay
Welcome to the wild and wonderful world of Dikay. A land filled with monsters and mayhem and the occasional mad hatter. In Dikay most humans have managed to settle in what remains of their uncorrupted world. Life is tough for the few humans that remain. The factions that control most of the inhabitable world have grown to hold each other with disdain. This, of course, leads to war.
The imperial guard rules most of the fortress cities. They are now controlled by the will of a tyrant. Which is fortunate for the citizens of the imperial cities since the recently deposed “Flaming Prince” was an even worse tyrant who was well known for his use of corrupted men and even demons to staff his armies.
The militias hold most of the power outside of the cities. They help keep the corruption of the demon realm at bay and aid in the evacuations of small settlements that have become unsafe. All in all the militia represents good faith and understanding. Of course they require a little bit of tribute for all this protection. Maybe some gold here, a kid or two there, it’s all in the name of survival.
The last bastion of humanoid control comes from the least humanoid people around, the Myconids. No one is exactly sure of where the Myconids live, but they seem to exert control over most of western Dikay. It’s sad really, but most of the human world shuns and rejects the Myconids simply because they are a species originating from corrupted humans. Because of this rejection little is actually known of the Myconid but they are assumed to be extremely violent and dangerous. How else could they keep the demons at bay?
Of course there is one other power in the world . . . the demons. Everyone knows what they are and where they came from. And if you don’t I suggest you figure it out because they control everything except where you are now, or maybe they control that two, yeah, did you ever think of that. I bet you didn’t. Well regardless, demons are bad news. They are big, strong, and unbelievably ugly. That is why everybody hates them; that and that whole taking over the world thing.
The demons have monopolized the warring attentions of most of the people of Dikay. Fortunately, that leaves plenty of room for the random explorer and hero to make his way in the world. And so you find yourself embroiled in the chaos. Are you the hero of legend, perhaps an aspiring merchant, maybe the next warlord, or possibly just a whore out to earn a buck? Well this is your chance.
