Dear Mrs.Ruckelshaus,
The event that I am going to tell you about is one time when me, my mom, my dad, and my younger brother Nicolas went to rocks state park.
Well to start off it was a pretty nice day. A nice day to go swimming, or tubing, or to have a picnic. It was warm outside with a bit of a breeze; but it wasn't cold at all. So, we decided to go to Rocks state park in Maryland, to have a picnic and so me and my younger brother could go tubing or swimming. After me and Nicolas had packed our bag with swimsuits, towels and extra clothes we were on our way to some fun in the sun.
As said we went to Rocks state park. After we got our ticket to get in we parked the truck, opened our doors and jumped out the the hot asphalt. Me and Nicolas had already gotten out stuff out of the back of the truck and headed out to find a picnic table in a nice, shady area close to the water.
After we had found a nice spot to set our stuff down: we had a bit of chicken for lunch and some lemon-lime sodas or water. I must say the chicken was delicious, but a little greasy. So, me and Nicolas had gotten our inter tubes(their like a dough nut but made for swimming or tubing) and headed off to the long river with fast, strong rapids.
We jumped into the water with a "SPLASH!!" the water wasn't as deep as I had hoped but it was good for now. So, we sat on our tubes for quite a while until we got a little bored:the water we were at had really no rapids at all. Later on I had spotted a place in the water where rocks were causing the water to become a small water fall. I had thought to go up the water fall and search for more rapids, that were faster and stronger for more fun. Well i tried to walk up the water fall but i couldn't. All of the water behind the little waterfall that was no bigger than a microwave, was still and coming down the water fall but with enough force to make someone fall down.
So I called for Nicolas"Hey Nicolas come here I found a waterfall that might be fun to go tubing down!!" Nicolas came walking down looking kind of disappointed seeing as the waterfall was very small and looked like it couldn't even push a baby down."That doesn't look like any fun to me." he said sounding bored and pretty disappointed. "Well try and walk up it" I had said sourly. So he took my challenge and tried to walk up the mini water fall;but failed miserably. The waterfall had pushed him down and the rapids started to carry him away while rocks under the water hit him in his back and his legs."Ouch!" he had screamed multiple times. I could imagine that it hurt having rocks hit you in the back and in your legs;not to mention some of them even scratched you up.
He had gotten back up and walked up to me. "Wanna around the waterfall so we can get behind it so we can go down it?" I asked excitedly. "Yeah." So we found a way around the small, but strong water fall and tried to stand up straight; even though the water looked calm it was strong and would pull you down along the river if you were not paying attention. "OK on the count of three we sit down and let the water carry us away" "OK. 1'2'3!" We both sat down and the water carried us down the river, down the water fall and down some more of the river."OUCH!!!" we both said pretty loud;but not exactly a scream. As the water dragged us long we both had gotten hit by rocks we passed and scratched up. "That was fun but very painful." I said rubbing my back and legs. "Yeah it was" Nicolas said with a bit of pain surrounding his voice.
Nicolas and I had kept tubing down that small waterfall until it was time to leave. When we left we had had scraps on our legs our backs hurt as well as our legs. If there was one thing I would regret about that day it would be not asking to stay la few minutes longer. Besides that I had no regrets of that day. It was fun in the sun and some pain but pain that can be delt with. When we left all I could think about was how much fun I had had with my younger brother that day. But I do wish Joshua would have come o he could enjoy the fun as well but he had to work.
Well I hope you have enjoyed my little story about my day at Rocks state park.
Sincerley,
Analisa Miller
