0800 hours at Psych ward X
One day... Yes one day I got up and I decided to visit my good friend Dr. Mihari Shotai. As I came to stand before his office, passing by many as I came to find Dr. Alyssa Von Schtauffen pacing before the door. She seemed somewhat nervous and quite a bit angry for some reason...
I hated seeing her distressed so I asked her what was bothering her... and you know what... You know what she told me... The Director, that stick in the mud himself, has decided to cut the Robotics department's already dwindling funds. Alyssa was very upset and well explained it in a... *ahem* very colorful manor. She said as she was pacing outside her footsteps heavy... She said she really didn't know how she was going to address it with M-kun... I know what she's getting at ... If the robotics ward was cut, M-kun would be crushed...
So we both entered lab, Alyssa storming past in full fury... M-kun seemed blissfully unaware and was working happily on one of his little toys... I know he made one for me awhile back... It was M-kun’s hobby to build these robotic spiders. My Zaza makes for a lovely companion. He seemed to truly enjoy it. I almost felt guilty coming in with such distressing news…
M-kun looked up at us, and my guilt was multiplied. After all M-kun was such a nice man and he didn’t deserve such stress… The director has already cut the funding to the Robotics Ward three times this year. Well, M-kun had tons of these things… a lot of them now gracing the walls… Looking very plain in my opinion…M-kun made mine special. He gave it to me a while ago, and not only was he smaller the softball size of his normal Spiders… But M-kun made him so cute throwing some floppy rabbit ears on his head… He’s sooooooooooo cute… His normal ones are the size of softballs with long and delicate legs… Taking one down from it’s shelf, Alyssa still giving M-kun the low down on everything… If M-kun could make these like Zaza, useful and helpful… The director would have to reconsider his decision…I didn’t even hear as Alyssa let out the bad news, as I was trying to make Mr. Spider better… If I could get the director to reverse his decision then everything would be well again…
I came out of my dream as a hand fell onto my shoulder… As I looked at Mr. Spider I saw him disassembled and at my feet… I only wanted to help… My eyes burned and I knew I was crying, I only wanted to help, but I only destroyed one of M-kun’s spiders… Looking up to Alyssa’s face I saw a wide smile, one that said she had a plan.
Alyssa’s plans were scary… Her last idea was to experiment with molds, and well that turned into a small dog sized thing… And as scary as he looked, he was the biggest sweetheart… I couldn’t fathom what she planned to do with this after all I couldn’t put Mr. Spider back together again.
But then she clapped me on the shoulder… She told me to buck up and that I gave her a marvelous idea…
“ If the almighty Director won’t give us funding… Well then we have to go to the outside to provide funding… We’ll use what we have available to us here! “ She had an energy that was contagious… She turned back to M-kun and asked him if he could make up more of these ‘ spider thingies ‘
M-kun’s response was matter of fact as he asked, “ You mean there aren’t enough here? “ It was true the shelves were loaded with shut down and plain specimens…
“ Well, We’ll come up with a catchy name, and dress up these drab things and sell these guys for profit! “ She hit her palm with her fist in excitement…It was truly a great idea, I got into it, “ But what to call them? “ She looked perplexed, but her enthusiasm was contagious…
“ How about SpiBots? “ I offered though it went unheeded as Alyssa’s own gears were turning.
“ We could call the shop, ‘They came from outer space! ’ “ I offered the idea of making it like an adoption agency… That’s when M-kun sighed and Alyssa stopped her rambling…
Alyssa smiled again at me and ruffled my hair… As M-kun cleared his throat, and Alyssa stood at attention… “ Listen these are my creations therefore my responsibility… I think SpiBots is an interesting name. Personally, I don’t mind a name for the insane workings of your mind, Alyssa… But try it from the Adoption agency angle… You can make them desirable to the outside populace. “ Alyssa perked up as he finished
“ Well how does this sound? ’ Dr. Mihari’s Adopt a SpiBot Center ‘… And we could call it MASC for short… She stuck out her tongue as if she had set someone up…
M-kun nodded his approval though he scooted both of us towards the door, and I watched as he went back towards creating the latest SpiBot
The combination of a spider and a robot… Making for a loveable friend…
