Verses of the Bible that make NO SENSE.
For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.
~Exodus 35:2

Think about that how many people work on the Sabbath -- all the employees of Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Linnens & things, grocery stores, convenience stores, power plants, airlines, hospitals, emergency services and on and on and on. Don't rabbis, priests and preachers work on the Sabbath? God wants all of them dead.

If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place. They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.
~Deut. 21:18-21

That is a whole lot of teenagers that we need to kill.

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.
~Leviticus 20:13

All homosexuals need to be killed. What about this:

If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbour, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.

That's a lot of people who need to be killed.

In other words, if we actually listened to what God says, we would need to kill at least half of the people in America tomorrow. After all, Isaiah 40:8 says, "The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever." The word of the Lord tells us to kill half of the U.S. population.

Notice that believers completely ignore these parts of the Bible. That is because they know that the verses are insane.

So why, then, is 1 Corinthians 6:9 not considered "insane"? 1 Corinthians 6:9 obviously damns homosexuals to hell, so...why again?

Oh, also...

Deuteronomy 7

1 When Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before thee, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

2 and when Jehovah thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them; then thou shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them;

3 neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

4 For he will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he will destroy thee quickly.

This basically says that interracial marriages result in children that aren't permitted to follow God. Ah, so God is racist now?

Oh no. Christians have conveniently overlooked that passage as well because it's racist. People can marry even if their skin colors differ, even though the Bible basically says they can't.

I AM NOT IMPRESSED.

Okay, Isa. Look at these verses now and tell me that I have to follow all of them.

...wait a second.

The sixth commandment says "THOU SHALT NOT KILL." Didn't several of those verses just say that half of the United States has to get killed?

...

Yeah, the Bible is contradicting itself. Whatever God issued this book is not the God that I love and believe.

I will gladly answer your questions Spoon! 3nodding I use to think the same way. I was like, "Huh? God! Why don't you just destroy the devil and demolish sin? Why can't you make everything perfect?".

I always forget that God has sent his son for a very important reason. He knew that we wouldn't always obey them. So he sent his son Jesus to die for our sins.

The message to the Corinthians that Paul gave to them is to remind them what they are doing is wrong. Plus, God knew we wouldn't listen to him the first time or even the hundreth, but he wants us to repent for our sins and never turn back to them.

The verse in Deuteronomy was God telling his people to destroy those nations of course. Those nations worship countless number od idols, all of them demons. The people even sacrifice their new borns to those idols. Their idols even had horns and teeth.

The 6th commandment, Thou shall not kill, got you there didn't it? I was kinda thinking the same thing. I was like, "God, the USA has wars! Does that mean it's wrong to fight for your country? Oh, and God your people demolish many people who lived in the Promise land yet I'm still not following you on the 6th commandment."

Let's have a situation here:

Let's say a guy comes to you with a knife with the intention on killing you brutally, on the other hand you have gun. What would you do?

Plus God destroys the people that have done unspeakable evil.
Back in the old testament where there were rules upon rules about killing and stoning to death the unrighteous, rememberJesus and the prostitute.

I have to go at the moment me and my family are still in the moving and preparing phase.
I'll answer the rest of your questions later okay? 3nodding

I really didn't ask any questions in the first place. All questions asked were pretty much rhetorical. If God really was all powerful, he'd make the Bible a little more straightforward than that, I'm sorry D: It just...has never worked out for me, although I've had several "moments" with God such as being slain in the spirit and speaking tongues and stuff but the Bible just...we shouldn't follow it literally or word-for-word.

That is trure, in some parts of the Bible like Revelation, there are symbolic meanings. There won't be an actual beast with many heads coming out of the ocean. The beast willm take on the form of man and have the devil inside of him. He will act like a savior at first, but his true destructing colors will show. People will follow him and be blinded by his lies thinking that it is true.

At times the Bible needs to decoded and read with understanding. When I find it hard to understand I pray and ask God for understanding. Sometimes God tells me to ask my mom or the elders of the church, since they have more experience.

Oh and Spoon, I think it's wonderful that you experience speaking in tongues. I hope you still attend church quite often. Having people who are spiritually strong around you will inspire you. I've seen children sooo much younger than me have stronger faith than I do.

Uhuh. So how do you know that the homosexual verses aren't "symbolic"? How do you even know that those verses in Revelations are symbolic? Someone told you? If God really wanted us to follow "his word", he would've made it clear to everyone what it said.

Heh, I don't go to church anymore. Every time I went to church anyway, I tried to feel something and experience what everyone else was, but I couldn't feel it. I couldn't feel whatever spirit everyone else felt. Never. I was actually miserable at church every time I went -.-;

Okay Spoon, you know the story of Joseph and the coat of many colors?
His dreams are symbolic, they represented what was going to happen.
I told you, before you read the Bible you need to pray for guidance from God. It's hard at times just to pick it up and read it like a story book. Oh and the verse about homosexuality being wrong is the straight forward kind of anwer God gives to us. God is mysterious in his ways. He knows so much about us that it's impossible to comprehend.

The reason you feel absolutley miserable in church is because you closed yourself up to God. You don't have to speak in tongues every time you go to church. You forgot that you don't have to feel the way the other people in your congregation do.
Spoon, when it comes to having a relationship with God, you need to be close to him. Your relationship with God is unique the same as mine and other born again christians. You know, part of growing closer to God is reading his word. 3nodding

I read my Bible often, and pray everyday seeking to become closer to God. When you do that your relationship gets stronger.

I...opened myself to him. I submitted myself completely to him and I never got anything from it.

And...I'm not a "born-again Christian". Sure, I was a born-again Christian like a thousand times, but it never worked out for me. And you can preach to me all you want, I'm not converting ¬.¬;

I'm not forcing you. stare
Spoon, I had to come to the alter sooo many times. I make mistakes every single day. It feels wonderful when you know that you have been forgiven and God has cleansed you. It's like I can see again. Plus Spoon, if you have anger in your heart, complete unforgivness, God won't come to you. And sometimes God won't come to you because there is somthing you must learn and understand. Seeking God could take a while for some people.

Spoon, I know how you are acting torwards your dad and stepmom. Cussing them out behind their backs won't solve anything.

Uhhh, you forgot... With Jesus came the new cov't. All those are from the Old testament.

The new testament basically counters all of those. Remeber the old man who was carring his bed out to the lake to be healed, and was going to be stoned?

People that pick and choose parts, complaining about other people pick and choosing make me sick.

God needed a few ground rules set to keep the human race going.

His first few rules were:
Hey! Don't eat that fruit!
Have lots of sex, make babies, and be happy doing it!

Jesus told everybody to love each other.

im not a christian...but im more on the path of Lutheranism/atheism...i know weird combination!!!
But....for kingdom hearts' sakes!!!....why is there a religion war going on here...
Listen...nobody really cares what your religion is... im just a person who finds flaws in others religion....
And one of my favorite quotes...to this day is:
You never hear on the news, "500 dead today after atheists take-over an agnostic stronghold"

...and yes Sponny....you are officially stalked!
