Background or link:

Torang Jollamar was born on an island somewhere in the Caribbean. Of course they didn’t know it was the Caribbean then, it was just the sea. Or as the inhabitants of the island called it Lamokta’s playground. Lamokta being an ancient water demon that dwelled of their shores preventing anyone or anything from leaving the island, with the exception of birds. The birds would be prisoner too, prisoner of Zatoli the wind demoness were it not for the fact that she liked to let them come and go to taunt Lamokta. Lamokta and Zatoli kept the island and nearly all it’s inhabitants trapped and forced to live a life of isolation from the rest of the world. This was because the island, Dombari’s Kingdom, was a veritable menagerie of demons and evil spirits, because of Dombari and Lomokta cooperating to cause the island to drift about the carribean never staying in one place too long, and Zatoli keeping it hidden within the clouds. Demons and evil spirits had the upper hand in this place and many more would barter and beg their way to it because here, the inhabitants were not able to commune with other minds of magic and learn how to enslave and fight against these demons, so instead were forced to co-operate with, or serve under them.

Torang’s tribe was one of the many villages serving under the demon lords, times often shifting from hard to harder as demon after demon overthrew one another. In an eternal quest to rule. Here on this island brimming with magic and demons, Torang was born.

The people of the island were not the pictures of suffering and agony as I am sure you think they were by this time, for as it is the nature of mankind, they had learned to bear under these harsh conditions and continue to live as close to normal as they could. Knowing the rules and ways of the land and talking heed of them to keep oneself as safe as possible. However this is not to say that they were content with this life… While many believed that trying to change things would only worsen all their lives, there were some that believed that waiting for some sort of change or rescue that would never come was foolish and it was up to them to change things.

Torang’s father was one of those who sought change out. He was also the first to make any noticeable headway. Somehow manageing between the hard labor of the day, and the terror of the nights, to use what the people had learned and knew about luck and the rules of demons, and evil spirits and the forces they wielded, he began to find that by combining typical medicimal knowledge of herbs and plants for brewing potions, and combining the processes involved with strange things like lucky stars and cycles of the moon, that one could create “abnormal” effects out of seemingly ordinary ingredients in these weird concoctions. Little did they know these potions were the first steps towards the arts of Voodoo.

Torang’s father may have made the first steps towards fighting back against the demons, but it was Torang who travled the rest of the journey, with help from a few other benefactors. When the reins of power changed hands once again, as one demon destroyed their current domineer, a tome belonging to the demons was dropped and forgotten in the fray. Had they looked for it it would not have been found as the tome had been recovered by one of the villagers. They took the tome to Torang’s father who they believed could use it against the demons, but alas, they could not read the words within as the language was unknown to them. Torang, who was but a boy, knew what had to be done to read the demons book. He snuck out at night and offered himself as a slave to the demon lord and was taken to the demons home to work. It was here, while serving the demon lord over the period of 5 years that the boy learned how to read the language. And then when he had been trying to plot an escape, a new demon lord came and overthrew this one, as he did so Not only did Torang escape back ot the village, he took with him a bone of the demon who he had served.

With his knowledge, the stolen tome and the bone of the demon, it was only a matter of time before Torang developed what would come to be known as the art of Voodo as he had learned how to wield the powers of “Magik”.

Torang, wielding the powers that he had learned, used it to enhance the abilities of his tribesmen with potions and he went with his magic and together they took down the demon lord. Word spread amongst the evil community rapidly of this outrage, the people of Dombari’s Kingdom had taken the life of a demon lord and learned to wield magic. Soon the demons were rallying against men bu tone by one Torang and his men fought back and took them down.

So it was that more and more of human kind upon the island were gathering with the Tribe of Torang and those men strong of body and spirit. Joined the warriors enhanced by Torang’s potions to aid him in fighting the demons. So it was that the demons got together seeing this problem the demons rallied together and chose from amongst them the cruelest of the cruel and let him lose upon the humans.

Kabool, was the name of the demon lord chosen to counteract the rising problem of Torang and his tribesmen. Kabool was a vicious demon mostly human in appearance. He was a cruel wielder of magic and incredibly strong. When Kabool and his human slaves rose up and as Torang and his warriors tried to stand against them they were crushed by the sheer strength and brutality of his foes. The warriors were nearly all slaughtered and the innocents were brutalized and many slain as well.

Torang and his few surviving warriors took to hideing within the jungles. He knew it was only a matter of time though. So Torang acted as quickly as he could….His people suffered for the most torturous month of punishment beneath the rule Of Kabool, and many cursed Torang and his father for having done exactly what they had feared would happen. But at the end of this month, on the night of the full moon, the dead that littered the fields, began to rise to their feet. The demons had not expected such magic as this to come from the humans they subjugated. Kabool sent his minions to fight them but the undead army was proving to be superior. Torang was standing in the midst of a rune of great power and it was from this point that his entire month of work had allowed him to raise these zombies, slow moving and stupid as they were, they provided the needed numbers increase to allow his own men to fight back and hiave shields to hide behind, and the corpses of the powerful warriors were raised back up as zombies able to fight just as they had in life, only now under the will of Torang, so in this manner all his warriors that had died at Kabool’s forces hands, were raised again and harder to stop. Soon it all came down to a battle between Kabool and Torang.

It was a grueling fight with curses thrown back and forth, and elemental magic flying between the two It finally appeared that Torang had been beaten, but with a last ditch effort he managed to escape once again.

It was a month later, on another full moon night, the night of the Lunar Eclipse that Torang surfaced again. Kabool had barely rebuilt any semblance of force, but had crushed the peoples spirits and was subjugating them on his own, when Suddenly TOrang was seen in the heart of the village. Kabool laughed and raised a hand to attack TOrang once again but At the same time tha he rose his hand Torang lifted his own to show an eerie wax model of Kabool in his hands the wax seemed to be dark red within…this was because Torang had gathered some of Kabool’s blood on himself during the fight, as that had been his true objective. Kabool refused to believe what he was seeing and he charged towards Torang but Torang began to chant and suddenly Kabool was unable to move. The demon then let out cries of pain as TOrang inserted needles into the doll in various places before finally tearing off it’s head. The demon then collapsed to the ground slain.

Taking the skull of Kabool and affixing it to a staff post Torang used this as a ward ot keep the other demons away from the village as they recovered and soon a time of happiness and freedom took the villagers under the protection of Torang… The numbers of demons diminished greatly as they fled this place where man could now fight back…

Though as it would turn out, a new time was coming… the three prime demons saw that their work was being unraveled from within and began to act… visiting Torang and whispering in his ear as he continued to study the books of the demons and learn more of his magic. They instilled in him the seeds of doubt and fear, and he believed that it was only a matter of time before a demon greater than Kabool would come. He believed that none but he could protect his people and so was searching for a way to prevent himself from death. At the same time he was learning more and more of Voodoo to grow stronger, so slow and subtle was all this that noone can ever truly say when it was that Torang slipped , lost sight of what he was looking for and knew only that he was questing power. He became the leader and then feared being of the island. Torang the witchdoctor, more frightening to the people than the demons themselves, even to his loyal followers.

Soon enough he lost sight of fighting the demons and began following them and the evil spirits as symbols of strength to further his power… He took the ward he had made of Kabool’s skull and turned it into a staff, making Kabool’s spirit one of his greatest weapons, and when the demons were satisfied enough the final piece was placed, the three prime demons cursed him to never die, bound to the island and their will forever.

It has been over two hundred years since then, the island itself is still untraceable on any map, the only person who can come and go as they please besides the birds, is Torang, as he goes out into the world, the closest thing to demon man can be while still being human. Spreading the will demons all over the earth, and warping it with his twisted art called Voodoo.
