My sanctuary where fears and lies melt away
A story me and SilverSerpent89 have been working on: it's .hack//invasion

.HACK//INVASION

Loopymoony: Hey! What r u up to?

DENotwelcome: Konnichiwa! Just finishing my observation

Loopymoony: Thats considered spying u know

DENotwelcome: It's only spying if all your good senses tells you not to. Since I have no good senses, they're obviously not telling me not to do it. Therefore, it's observation.

Loopymoony: ???? Whatever. Hurry up and get on THE WORLD already,

DENotwelcome: Give me minute to create my avi

Loopymoony: YOU HAVEN'T CREATED AN AVI?!?!? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?

DENotwelcome: easy on the caps. No I haven't. Observation, or spying as you call it, seems a little more important than some stupid video game

Loopymoony: . . . Okay just make sure to start at A7 okay?

DENotwelcome: Whatever

Severus Snape sat the disc into his new PS3, grabbed a controler, and fitted the virtualreality visor over his eyes. For awhile, the TV screen was blank and fuzzy. Then, after what seemed like half an hour, the start up menu came on.A young came on the screen wearing victorian style clothing. "Welcome to THE WORLD. I am ANDRIAN and I will be helping you through the set up. First, and this may sound rude, but are a boy or a ?"
Too much majik interfering with the electricity, Severus thought. Okay first pick a gender. That's easy, male. Next question please?.
"Thank you for specifying," ANDRIAN said. "Next, what job do you hold? There is Ninja, Mage, Knight, Holy Worrior, Babarian, Pirate, Theif, Paladin, Sage, . . . The list went on forever.
Okay, let's pick Mage. That's close to a wizard right? Shouldn't be too hard.
"In order to be a Mage," she said, "you must start as a wizard. You will have to work your way up. Is this okay?"
I guess.
"Thank you. Now you must pick a name and password. Be sure not to use anything too common, that goes for both.If the name is already taken you will have to chose a new name."
Okay. Let's try SeverusS. A ping came on the screen saying, and showing, the person with that login.
Okay. SSnape. A ping came up again, much like the last one.
DENotwelcome.Another ping popped up.
It went on for a long time like this. Thousands of variations of name, none of them working. Severus thought for a minute and went with the only name he didn't use, and didn't want to use. SACRED.
"Are you really SACRED?" ANDRIAN asked.
Yes?
"Now creating your avi. You can either BUILD YOUR AVI with some of our already made features, or you can CREATE WITH THOUGHT which allows your brain to make you look however it wants. The second one is harder, and rarely used."
CREATE WITH THOUGHT.
"And lastly, where should your home be? This determines were you will start each time you log on or begin again after dieing."
A7
"Thank you. Now sit back, close your eyes, and begin your life in THE WORLD."
A strange fizzy feeling went through his entire body, making him almost laugh. He felt something tickling his arms and opened his eyes. He was in a feild with tall blue grass and purple flowers. He jerked himself up alittle and yawned. Getting up a bit more he noticed that he was in an herb feild. Whoever owned these herbs probably didn't want Severus, or SACRED, there. He began walking down the hill and noticed that there were only two houses. One with shurikun and kunai around the outside, and one that was completely plain. That must be mine.
Out of the second door popped a man in a red tunic with grey swirls on it, carrying a giant shurikun in his left hand. "Hey, nice to have a neighbor for once!" He called, and then Severus knew exactly who it was.
"Remus, you jerk!" He called back. "You know I was coming here, stop acting so stupid!"
"It's Loopymoony, you have to call people by there login." Remus stared at Severus."What's with the clothes? I've never seen 'em like this before. And why'd you have to pick Mage? I wanted another ninja buddy. "
Severus, or SACRED, now looked at himself. He had cat ears and a tail, a blue turtle-neck shirt with one long sleeve and one short sleeve, gloves with a giant jewel in the center of each, cargo pants with a diamond belt and two interlinking belts, and some odd trainers. His nails were black and his hair covered his left eye. In his pocket was a stick, what THE WORLD cosidered a wand for first level wizards. "I chose the CREATE WITH THOUGHT option. Is it that wierd?"
"Well." Remus said, "maybe not that wierd. Since the game went to PS3 I've seen alot of odd avi's. The CREATE WITH THOUGHT option was never in the beta version. Those gloves were a luck out. They're really rare. come on, I'll show you how to use them."
He grabed SACRED's arm and dragged him away to a swampish area. There were two treasure chests on either side, resting against trees. Remus moved forward and pointed at the chests. "That's one thing they're used for. Just put one hand over your eye and one infront of the chests. Easy, huh?"
Severus looked at the gloves and then at the chests. He started to cover up his left eye, but stopped and turned to Loopymoony. "Does it matter which eye I cover?" Loopymoony shook his head. Now SACRED covered his right eye and thrust his hand infront of the left chest. For awhile, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, then a black mist formed around the top and made its way around the entire chest. Then he moved to the right chest, waiting even longer for any type of change. "The left has a black mist and the right doesn't seem to have any mist."
Loopymoony then moved to the right chest and opened it up. Inside was a red jewel much like his grey ones. "Here," he said tossing the jewel to SACRED. When we get a staff, be sure to put that in it, okay?"
"Sure" SACRED said. "And when exactly do I get that?"
"When your levels higher than one digit," Loopymoony said. "These should help you out alittle." He kicked open the other other chest and a black demon appeared. "I'll help, but to get points you'll have to be the MVP and deliver the final blow."
"Whatever," SACRED replied. He pulled the stick out of his pocket and began casting spells, or at least trying to. "Hey, Loopymoony, why's my majik not working? I'm pronouncing it correctly."
"This game was made by muggles," Loopymoony said, throwing his kunai at random. Surprisingly he didn't miss. "Muggles don't know real majik. Try Alakazam, Hocus Pocus, or shuin. Any could work."
I muggles! SACREDlooked over at the demon. It's life gauge was red. If he wanted MVP he'd have to act fast. I muggles!
"Shala Kazu!" SACRED shouting. Black sparks emerged from his stick and engolfed the demon like vines. His gauge went to black and he evaperated into a puff of grey air. Out of the corner of SACRED's POV droped another chest, trimmed with gold. "Am I supposed to open that?"
"What?" Loopymoony asked, looking everywhere.
"Not funny," SACRED said. "The stupid chest setting there." he pointed for emphasis.
"If you can see it."
"What the f*** does that mean, 'If you can see it'?"
"An MVP praise only shows up to the one who won. You've never played MMORPGs before, have you?"
"Shut up." SACRED moved overto the chest and kicked it open message poped up in front of him.
YOU'VE OBTAINED 50 GOLD.
SACRED stared at the screen for awhile, unable to get it off. He blinked a few times, but that didn't help. "Loopymoony, how do I get this off?"
Loopymoony sighed. "Flex you're index finger." Why does he have to be a novice?

SilverTears

Evalon unwrapped The World and placed it in the new PS3 that he had worked hard all summer at Taquito Hut to afford. These two items were his pride and joy. After all, not everyone lives on their own at seventeen and can afford luxuries like so.
Evalon prided himself on his drawing skills, he had an avatar (avi for short) planned out, he had so many ideas for his character. He had been researching the Japanese version all summer and what he learned excited him. The mesmertechnology allowed for CREATE WITH THOUGHT option. It's magick and state of the art technology stepped over the boundaries of limitations. The World had finally become the first SmartGame.
The familiar face of ANDRIAN appeared. Of course she looked slightly different, Evalon would never forget those eyes, or that cute robot voice. "Welcome to THE WORLD. I am ANDRIAN and I will be helping you through the set up. First, and this may sound rude, but are a boy or a ?"
Boy.
"Thank you for specifying," ANDRIAN said. "Next, what job do you hold? There is Ninja, Mage, Knight, Holy Warrior, Barbarian, Pirate, Thief, Paladin, Sage, . . . The list went on forever.
Evalon picked Rouge. Its scythe was formidable and the textured clothes seemed serene. Not good, not evil. Just human.
Wow, Evalon thought, I'm getting too deep into this.
ANDRIAN flashed a warning, "To be a Rouge, you must begin as an assassin. Is this ok?"
Evalon didn't remember the Japanese version having class upgrades. Oh well. He clicked yes.
"Thank you. Now you must pick a name and password. Be sure not to use anything too common, that goes for both. If the name is already taken you will have to chose a new name."
Evalon had thought this out. He knew what he wanted.
SilverTears.
"Are you really SilverTears?"
Yes.
ANDRIAN appeared again, "Now creating your avi. You can either BUILD YOUR AVI with some of our already made features, or you can CREATE WITH THOUGHT which allows your brain to make you look however it wants. The second one is harder, and rarely used."
CREATE WITH THOUGHT.
Evalon took out his sketching. He placed the image in his mind and set back. His head was tilted as the image played over and over. A ping sounded and SilverTears displayed on the screen. Perfect, flawless.
"And lastly, where should your home be? This determines were you will start each time you log on or begin again after dying."
Evalon scrolled through, he picked the server with less players A7.
"Thank you. Now sit back, close your eyes, and begin your life in THE WORLD."
Evalon placed the headset on, as soon as his eyes hit the screen he felt the familiar surge. His body physically felt the warp. Tingles ran up his spine and through his arms. His controller vibrated.
Blank.

The lakeside was beautiful, the blue grass and purple flowers waved in the simulated breeze. The plain structure looked odd nestled in the front trees of the forest. But that’s what Evalon wanted, a home far off from the drama of the Gossips of the previous version. He had d that group, well, what he considered a group. Not all were affiliated with each other at all. Just falling into the same category, much like all jocks don't know all the other jocks of the world or on The World. But they were all loosely affiliated.
He walked into his home, nothing extravagant yet, just simple. It was decent for now.
Content with what he had he stepped outside. The path was empty all around. But he could see two closely knitted houses over the knoll. One was like his plain, the other was decked out in shurikun and kunai. Looking back a second later, a young stood on the threshold of his home.
"Help me," she said with voice chat activated. Evalon activated his as well, it would make things easier.
"Who are you?" Evalon questioned.
"My name is Rayne, will you help me?" Her voice was soft, like the sprinkle of rain. Evalon thought if that was her namesake.
"I've just started, I've played previous versions, but I am simply a noob."
"Please help." She was persistent.
"Ok, What do you want me to do?" Evalon equipped his scythe. It was time to kick butt and gain levels.
Rayne's hand touched SilverTear's. She closed her big eyes and a white light engulfed them. Wow, you don't need a Chaos Gate to teleport? That's new. SilverTears disappeared in a dance of light.

Moonlight peeked through the Red bud Trees and the statues crumbled majestically at random intervals. Rayne still held SilverTears hand. Evalon inched him forward. Rayne followed behind tugging on his waist length scarf.
"Ok, what exactly do I need to do?" Evalon asked.
"Help me... protect me... avenge me..." Rayne's eyes twinkled as tears formed. A sensation Evalon was all to accustomed to. A feeling SilverTears should never feel. But yet that was his namesake...
"How? Where do I start?"
She pointed westwards, the moon fell just above that horizon.
Evalon sat his toggle stick towards the moon, "Tell me when I need to stop." Thud! The controller vibrated in Evalon's hand. The shadow played over the screen. Whatever it was, was huge.
It was named BehemothSoldier. It was a great beast wielding both fire and sword. Metal plates encased its left shoulder and lower legs.
SilverTears drew his scythe. His assassin speed helped against the lumbering giant, but at ten levels higher and SilverTears lack in defense, Evalon was screwed if he got hit. Rayne moved to one side. She cast a regenerative spell on SilverTears. His HP (Health Points) steadily recovered. But that was all she did.
SilverTears had longer range and easily kept the Behemoth at bay. When the BehemothSoldier lost three-fourths of its HP, it cast a ranged fire spell, dropping SilverTears HP to critical.
"Rue Don," water prisms encircled the BehemothSoldier pelting him with force. SilverTears' wave defeated the monster, raising his level by three.
Joyfully he exclaimed,” All right, level 4!" Turning to Rayne he felt a rush of embarrassment at his childish outburst. But taking a closer look at her, he noticed that she herself must have been a young child. Probably about ten or eleven. Her black clothes were beautifully rendered. Her dress was split down the middle, but a medley of belts kept it together. Her jacket exposed her stomach that was wrapped in fishnet. Her lace headband in her hair was frilled and contrasted her hair.
"Just who are you Rayne, you must have used the Create With Thought option, huh?"
She stared at him for a long second. "I did not create myself. My father did." She walked towards SilverTears and grabbed his scarf again.
"So your dad plays too?" Evalon started walking towards the moon again. She was supposed to remind him where to go, hope she wouldn't get caught up in talking.
"My father does not play. No, he creates. He created this world. I am to save it. I am to become Aura. I am the chosen one of the Twilight.
"I have to become Aura, I must save this world. I can save the inhabitants, but I cannot save the world in my current status. Help me become stronger." She smiled softly at SilverTears. Evalon's heart softened.
Evalon continued on with his quest. Towards the moon, but he kept going. In The World, the area can only go so far. The World isn't unlimited, though it may be advanced, it can only hold so much data. But Evalon had passed the normal boundry line. And on top of that, the moon was close. It looked like he could almost touch it.
That's when it hit him, Rayne stopped him right in front of the Moon, literally. The Moon was flat on the background, which is usually just decoration. But Rayne had other plans. She let go of SilverTears scarf and walked straight through the Moon. "What?" Evalon dropped the controller.
That was not protocol to the game. This was a direct violation of the rules. Evalon wasn't an Administrator, but he knew the hazards of a cheat, he experienced it first-hand in the last version. He was still seeking revenge on that monster that had shattered his life as he knew it.
Contemplating his next action, he stepped close to the moon to study it. He stood close enough away without being in danger of altering data of The World, of course he already was by just standing there in a cheat zone. But curiosity did kill the cat.
Bweep Bweep Bweep Bweep
That was his health gauge alert. He was hit...
He swung around to see the perpetrator, healing himself in the process. It was the worst thing he could have imagined, especially in this time, instance and situation.
It was Devastate.
Evalon had run into him on the last version. This was what he had to do, but why now? Not while he was so weak. He had been level 50+ when he had run into him during an event, now here he was again. Plus, of all the 253,097,802 players online, he had found him a second time.
What Evalon didn't remember, your character is thrown forward a bit when being hit. Evalon had entered the Moon.
Evalon cursed the bad luck. He saw Rayne waiting patiently for him, it was obvious she needed him to advance. But Devastate was in the Moon with them.
Evalon had copied one thing from his arch nemesis, Devastate's crooked scythe was ly, and the focus of his power. At least he assumed. Evalon used a Speed Scroll and ran.
He picked Rayne up and kept running, this was another reason Evalon picked SilverTears class to be Rouge, it was fast. Devastate floated and was not restricted to that limited mobility, but it was still slow.
Devastate resembled a Shinigami closely. It's war torn cloak and hood covered a skull face, but the face was void. It only held thin lines horizontally around the face, which if you hadn't studied his features, you would have easily missed.
You could say Devastate was Evalon's reason for playing The World, but he had to strengthen SilverTears up first. He ran through the Moon, the details were unimportant and Evalon didn't even notice them. He just watched the map (which Evalon found strange later, cheat zones didn't have maps. They weren't programmed.).
Devastate cast Waves at SilverTears hitting him ever so lightly, he recovered with Health Drinks and Healing Potions. But he was running out quickly. And He didn't have enough MP (magic points) to cast many healing waves fast enough.
Not again, not again. Don't let this happen again.
The Waves stopped.
Evalon toggled his camera view towards Devastate. Devastate was being fended off.
The classic BladeMaster attacked the Shinigami steadily. His two other party members had their own job to do, The TwinBlade ran circles around Devastate keeping Devastates attention focused on him. If Devastate turned towards the others, a swift sporadic hit was in order, causing Devastate to stop it's attack and turn his attention back towards the TwinBlade. The WaveMaster cast speed waves on the TwinBlade and strength and defense waves on all the party. On top of healing the party whenever the slight chance Devastate got a hit in.
It was a well thought out strategy that they must have developed for fights just like this, or maybe, it was just thinking on their feet. Whatever it was, it was working. Evalon watched Devastates health gauge dwindle slowly, but steadily. They were going to kill Devastate. Evalon's enemy. It wasn't fair, Evalon wanted to do it, he felt himself getting jealous.
Devastate raised it's scythe, and shockwaves exploded outwards, it knocked all three party members backwards. It even killed the WaveMaster. But Devastate had almost no HP left, one hit would have killed it. However, Devastate flew upwards and through the ceiling, breaking the rules of the game. Devastate was still alive, still out there. Still destroying the fabrications of the game.
The TwinBlade used a Resurrection on the WaveMaster, who healed the party back to full. They talked among themselves for a short while, probably debriefing the situation, and Evalon was sure they were using party chat to talk among themselves without anyone hearing, but of course, they didn't need to, this was supposed to be a cheat zone, it wasn't like any old newbie could waltz in there and listen in on them... but then again, one had.
"Excuse me," Evalon talked through the microphone on the FMD (Face Mount Display), "um, how did you get here?"
They all turned to look at SilverTears and Rayne. The TwinBlade twitched slightly in alarm, his blades flashing into battle mode.
"Sorry, I happened upon this area, which shouldn't even exsist, and I was being attacked by Devastate until you guys stopped him. How did you get here?"
The BladeMaster stepped forward. His Wave was clearly fire, his chest was adorned with a giant red flame. his bangs were parted and his red hair was pulled back into a short ponytail. He had a an armored shoulder bracer on both shoulders and armbands on his right.
His sword was thin and resembled the oriental swords of the samurai. An afterimage followed the blade indicating that it was rare. Looking at the others, he saw that all their weapons were rare.
"And just who are you?" His voice was gruff and staticky, he was basically spitting into the microphone. His voice indicated he must be close to thirty.
"My name is Eva- SilverTears. I just began this game, but I was a high level player in the previous version. I had been a LongArm and was highly respected in the Water Capitol. My name was Sanctuary, you might have heard of me."
The BladeMaster scoffed, "We were stationed in the Highland City. I didn't visit Mac Anu much. except when I had an informant there. I tried to stay away from there."
The WaveMaster walked up to SilverTears, his green hair clashed with the yellow outfit. His Wave was clearly thunder. "You look like a newbie! Haha! What are you doing here? The level of difficulty is clear above your head, as a self proclaimed respected player in The World you should know what your limit is. You are being reckless."
Evalon blinked a little bit, he was right. "Well, this me into it." He pointed at Rayne who was still in SilverTears' arms.
The TwinBlade finally joined the conversation, "What ?" she questioned. She shrugged her shoulders with an emoticon action.
Evalon was speechless, "This I'm carrying around in my arms! The dark little cloud of sadness that is obsessed with Aries or Aurora, or something-"
"Aura?" The WaveMaster asked.
"Yeah," Evalon supposed,” I think that’s what it was."
The three of them encircled him. They drew their weapons into battle mode. Rayne cast a speed wave,” Run, you fool!"
Evalon didn't think twice, urging SilverTears forward, he followed the map again frantically, it looked like a straight shot with about one or two turns. That was good, the TwinBlade was the fastest and SilverTears should be able to gain distance easier on the long stretches, he wasn't too worried about the other two, it was that damn .
Battle formation shouts were bellowed out, they had forgotten to put party chat back on. It didn't matter, all they really said was things like catch him and don't loose her. Evalon started to sweat. His clammy palms slipped, but still he pushed the analog stick forward.
There was one last room before he reached the end. What was he going to do? Could he use a sprite ocarina fast enough to gate out to the surface, where he could gate out back to his home?
"Go to the Divine Statue Room, get the treasure." Rayne's voice was calm and steady.
"What? Are you crazy? We can go on another adventure somewhere else! I need to gate out. NOW!"
She sighed, "Trust me."
He reached the room easily enough. The statue wasn't like any he remembered from the previous version, they used to resemble the six wave gods, grotesque and almost abstract, but this Guardian statue was that of a . The stone statue floated without suspenders, the magic of the room was sustaining it. SilverTears fell upon the chest. He threw it open, recieving three items...
"Hold it right there!" The TwinBlade appeared first. She held one blade out toward him. Rayne jumped off of SilverTears' arms placing herself between the two players. "Wah? It really is one..."
Rayne held her hands up and the familiar dance of light happened again.
They were gone.
The TwinBlade was left speechless and alone. She was soon joined by the BladeMaster then the WaveMaster. She turned towards them. They were looking around but quickly took themselves out of battle mode.
"Well done Euphoria, did you secure the AI?" The BladeMaster asked.
She sighed,” No, I'm sorry, but I saw her. Its the same one he created. She's loose and operating on her own. Whether for destruction or redemption, I'm not sure."
Euphoria and her party gated out.

Evalon kept looking at the item that he had received: Morgana’s Ring .
What did that item do? It wasn't on any online help sites, and no board post suggested knowledge of it, though there had to be about 176 pages of trivial stuff, and only three of actual useful information. But nothing retaining 'Morgana’s Ring'.
He also received something else that was strange, Wave-Earth. What was that? What would Rayne need? Didn’t she tell him to go to the Divine Statue Room? What did she need?
Divine Treasures always have three items, and his last one was a waste, a magician’s Winged Wand, it was a level 17 wand, but he couldn’t use it. He was an assassin. All they used was Knifes, Short Swords, and Scythes. He would have to use this wand some other way.
But Morgana’s Ring and Wave-Earth was still puzzling. Wave was the term used to represent magic in The World, so it may be an enhancement item. And Morgana’s Ring may just be an equip able item. What if he was over thinking this?
He pressed start and hit the equipment link. Going through the newbie items, he selected Morgana’s Ring. An error window appeared:
Unknown error occurrences may happen while equipping this item: Thank you. There was no yes or no link. Evalon didn’t like the sound of that.
He went back to his equipment screen. Morgana's ring did not appear on his equipment list. Checking his inventory, he noticed that nothing was there. But it was plain as day on his avatar. A silver band adorned with red jewels fitted snuggly on his right index finger.
"Will you give me Wave-Earth? I need it. I need to become Aura." Rayne pleaded. She held out her hands. It was weird. This event character sounded like and acted like a real player, no, a real PERSON! Her mannerisms were perfectly suited, her lips synchronized.
"One question first."
She looked a little startled, "O.. okay." She must not have expected Evalon to question instead of follow her request.
"Who is this Aura?"
Rayne turned, "Aura. Aura is the Will of The World."
She said it, but it didn't make any sense

************************************************************************ A7

Across the lake he saw two avatars talking, tough they were probably arguing. They used emoticons such as "shake fist" and "red face". A waste of effort, but it helped make the conversation more real. They even had one that was a classic manga reference, "Pop vain".
But Evalon wasn't too worried about what had happened on their mishapped adventure. He needed to level up, and fast. If he ran into Devastate again, or that party of administrators or s or whatever they were. He needed a party of more than just him and Rayne, and she didn't even have a health gauge. It was time to go to the root towns.
He walked through the field of tiger lilies, skipping houses that were vacant, towards the revered Chaos Gate. Rayne followed obediently. She kept quiet and held fastly onto my scarf. It was quite cute if anyone could see it. I loved her company, though she was normally speechless, a character was always present with me. But this player, or maybe she was a NPC (Non Player Character) that had many responses plugged in that made her sound realistic. Or maybe I was a noob and playing into the script without thought.
The golden ring floated as its accesory rings twirled around it. The blue plasma like barrier inside the gate seemed to be an ocean. Its intricicies of its nature escapes me. It is simply a barrier that protects the root towns and base areas. It also links them together for safe passage to the areas. The Chaos Gate allowed for travel to the field, and is the only means of transport. Though somehow, Rayne found a way around that.
I walked up to it and clicke the accept button, a screen came up to allow me to put keywords together. I clicked on the Root Town option. A list came up and Mac Anu was at the top. Home sweet home.
"Ready to go?" I questioned.
"Will I become Aura?"
I looked down, how should I know, I didn't even know who or what Aura was. A special class? A title, like the Crimson or Cobalt Knights? Maybe a special avi? All I know was the four people were interested in her out of the four I've met since I've logged on, not including ANDRIAN.
The Chaos gate engulfed us in that familiar light that Rayne had conjured. This non cheat way of teleportation eased my concerns as I followed the rules of the World.
Mac Anu was the same as it was in the previous version. Water was everywhere under the arching stone bridges. The flags waving in the breeze. The balloons holding the decorative ribbons above the water. The gondolas of venetian nature. It was beautiful really. How I fell in love with it. True it was no place for advanced players, but many dedicated powerhouses still came to remember their roots, and even to hire me as a member of their party. I was a legend here, but these new faces wouldn't even know me I'm sure. I was a newbie now, I couldn't prove my existence and title of past glory, or could I convince them. I must start over and earn my respect again.
I decided to venture to my old hangout and the secret base of many close friends and party members. Uptown and around the corner. The root town was immense and it took me nearly five minutes of SilverTears running to get to the place. For a game, that was a long way. Imagine if he had been a WaveMaster.
The place was desolate outside, but inside there were decorative items everywhere, the best money could buy in this game, he had had it all. But now he was reduced to one weapon and a few healing potions. A character stood outside his old base. She had long hair as auburn as could be. The weapon she had in her hand was a fierce bow. It resembled a knarled tree branch that thorned out. Her arrows burned within her sheath.
"Pardon me," Evalon spoke to her.
The looked up, she was evidenltly of a bowsmen class. What it was titled, he could not recall. He would have to ask her, "Yes," her big blue eyes stared into me. She had auburn hair that mocked Evalon's brown hair. Her bodice was purple and her corset was a metallic golden her short skirt was one and she had a pouch and a quiver at her hips.
"Might I ask what you are doing here?" SilverTears recited Evalon's words in sketchy lip synch.
She looked at the furnished bases of mine and others. This was the richer part of town, that suggested strength. She was obviously in need of aid.
"I am looking for noob friendly elites." She kept looking at the elegant balconies and hoping for a glimpse of the powerful players.
An elite? That's what I was considered? Wow, has a nice ring to it. Evalon thought. He wondered if his character Sanctuary was still available on this version...
"Really? I too search for companion in my travel's."
She raised an eyebrow as she placed a hand on her hip, "Why are you talking like that?"
Evalon had slipped into formal, somewhat diplomatic dialect. He needed to be more casual when approaching this new generation of players. They were too informal anymore, not caring about the intricisies of manners. Nevertheless, Evalon was only seventeen, he could adapt.
"Sorry, when the World was first started, players met other players like they would at an international meeting. After all, many international players are present in this very server, maybe even this root town. But you would never know, due to the translator equipped with the upgrade." Evalon explained.
The seemed to move a little. She had either fidgetted and hit the joystick, or she had decided to leave but thought otherwise. "You mean," she began, "You played the previous version?"
Rayne glanced up at SilverTears, "Yes."
She seemed to jump for joy through her microphone into Evalon's, "Really? Then have you come to one of your elite freind's house? If so, could you introduce me? Please? Please?" She put her avi right next to his.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I know anyone from here. Just kinda wondering along."
She moved back. Thinking about what to do next. He assumed.
Stalking off, she went around the corner. Evalon didn't follow, just stared off into space. He waved at a LongArm on a gondola. A good class, he thought.
"SilverTears, when are we going to find a party member?" Rayne stood still clasping on to his scarf.
SilverTears turned to the little . He activated the kneel command, "Hopefully soon. I'll go to the main square. An abundance of players should be there. Maybe then we will find at least a temporary companion."
Evalon urged SilverTears on. He made him sprint for two minutes to the Market Area. This was were many of the wares were sold, and Evalon took it upon himself to look around for some equipment. He was in need of armor. A burly man wearing an orange vest stood at a kiosk. He was motionless. But people came and went. Evalon went up to him and clicked accept button. "Welcome, can I interest you in any merchandise?" A screen that had the equipment list appeared and Evalon scrolled through the interesting wares to the less desirable and cheaper. He agreed to buy a hunter's belt for 200g, a Traveler's Headband for 50g, a footwear named Greased Lightning for 125g, then he aquired a new wave for 1000g, he picked fire to balance out his water wave. He had the fire mirror his water on the opposite wrist. He had spent 1375g and that left him with 2625g. Not alot, but enough to get by. He then purchased 1000g worth of health drinks and a speed scroll. He equipped the new items and watched his avi's appearence change as each item was added.
SilverTears moved to the center of the square and started talking to players left and right. He talked to formidable Paladin's with their righteous swordsmanship, and timid mages that could cast tremendous magic from afar. Pirates that seemed to have a knack for finding treasure and fierce Barbarians that could crush enemies with their crude weapons. But they didn't seem interested in a low level noob. 'They had their own quest to finish'. Disgruntled by the two hours of badgering, Evalon signed out. Rayne stared as he bid farewell, she waved back. Her eyes were wide and meloncholy. But the image blinked out.
Evalon sighed. Not much to do, he needed rest. He checked his email and ate a small dinner of buttered bread before stepping into the shower. Taking care to groom himself, he didn't get to sleep until midnight and he had work in the morning.

Duty that day was hard to keep straight. Twice he served the wrong orders and one table complained. His tips sucked that day and he was low on cash. He needed food and his bill was coming up. However, Evalon was so flustered at one point in time, he almost started crying. An old lady was at the table when he had the episode and she tipped him a good seven bucks.
Exasperated from the days work, he laid down to rest for five minutes before playing again. But when his head touched the cushion, he passed into a twilight state. Not waking, not sleeping. Just resting.
When he awoke it was late, probably around two in the morning. He had slept too long... But he signed on anyway. The familiar surge was exhilerating and it woke Evalon up as he became SilverTears.
The powerful scythe reassured him that it would be possible, he went off to train. All night he trained. He gained stronger equipment, but he didn't find any weapons. He would have to buy or trade for a better one.
At the end of the night he had leveled up to level eleven. He knew that it wasn't much, but in MMORPGs, that was a miracle. It took longer to level up.
Evalon urged SilverTears on to Mac Anu. Through the Chaos Gate he returned to the market and replenished his inventory stock. He had enough gold to last him awhile. He wanted to see if he could find a better scythe than the low level one he had now. The markets werent very helpful, mainly TwinBlades and Warrior equipment. Nothing too fancy. It was a lower level server, so of course there would be a lack of worthwhile items.
He decided to set his avatar up and put on a notice. "<Looking for a weapon: Scythe>". The noticed stayed above his head and anyone could leave a message while he went off to work. But Evalon didn't know that if he had only waited a few minutes, something would amazing would have happened...
"Remus! This is boring, I leveling up!"
"How many times do I have to tell you? Its Loopymooney!"
The wizard stopped short, "Hey, Remus, can you help that player? Im sure you have an extra scythe somewhere."
"Oh! Don't worry about those, thats a notice, people will leave those up for weeks looking for something and come back later. Its usually not worth your time, he's obviously a low level character, there's nothing he has that could possibly interest us." Loopymoony led the wizard along. But the wizard noticed something strange. A little gothic held the rouge's scarf. It was a peculiar sight, and he wanted to question about it. But Loopymoony had already drud him around the corner.
