So me and my girlfriend live up in good old Massachusetts. Finals are all over - we're in college. So we decided, pretty much on a whim, to go and crash the Early Show biggrin

So we stocked with snacks and set the alarm for midnight. Set out, the GPS system set for New York!

The roads were dead. And as such, we arrived about two hours earlier than we expected to. So there we are, the car in a garage, at two in the morning in New York City.

We wind up at the Apple Store. Right next to the CBS building where the event was going to take place. It's 24 hours, so we got to get changed and use the restrooms.

We were a couple of the first ones there, as well as a couple of people from Pennsylvania. So we sat down and waited. Other Gaians gradually began to sit near us.

One of the CBS higher-ups came out earlier on. He was SO confused. He asked if we were there to see the ballet. We said we weren't. He then asked if we were there to see the miniature horse. We mentioned that we were there because of a website, mentioning Gaia - it went completely over his head. Later on a couple other people mentioned us being there to crash the Early Show. I think that it was a bad idea - c'mon, that OBVIOUSLY makes us look malicious.

Just before six in the morning. It's cloudy, and chilly. DJ Helsing gets there. People SWARM to him. Note he didn't take a cab or anything like that. He walked. With a largish backpack. He opened it up, saying not to worry, there were 200 hats in there. I personally don't think there were - there was more like 40 of each type. For 250 people. My girlfriend got a hat; I didn't.

We did get the Gold cards though. Everyone got a Ring; the ones in Prom Gear got an extra one. There were so many people in Gaia Gear and only about a dozen to twenty in Prom Gear - myself and my girlfriend included.

Advice to Helsing - prepare better next time. Make sure not to give into mob justice and also to stock more hats if you shall be promising free hats smile As it is, some of the parents who were chaperoning the kids got hats, leaving actual Gaians lacking them. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get an OMG hat, but hey, that's life, right? Besides, it gave us an excuse to see New York.

Unfortunately, we had to use the restroom before the show was over, so had to get out of there >.< From what I understand, they didn't show us much on the show anyways. I think they thought we were general hooligans or something.
