Shino & Kakime: The Beginning |

Kakime smiled. Tonight she was more excited than she had been in at least a month. She had a date planned with Shino tonight at her favorite Mexican food resturant. The date wasn't really anything fancy but it would be their first date together and that alone made her tremble with anticipation.
Meanwhile, Shino was extremely nervous; he couldn't stop pacing around his room. A small swarm of bugs followed him with every stride and every five or so minutes, a couple beetles dropped; their tiny brains were overwhelmed with dizziness. Shino didn't know exactly how long Kakime had liked him or quite how much but he'd had a pretty big crush on Anko's "evil little sister" for at least a few years now. Only a few days ago had he mustered up the courage to ask her out.
Now he was so afraid of messing up, he was afraid that he would mess up because he he actually was afraid of messing up that he just ended up confusing himself and had to sit down. Why does a date have to be this hard?, he thought, thinking of Kakime and looking at the clock. 4:07; less than an hour left.

Kakime slid into a booth, took a deep breath, and looked down yet again at her outfit. She wasn't dressed in her normal mission outfit, instead having donned a simple but cute midlength-sleeve top and embroidered jeans. After about five minutes, Shino joined her at the booth.
"You came early," he said, sounding surprised and nervous.
Kakime nodded wordlessly. The waitress came to take the couple's order as they sat in an awkward silence. Kakime and Shino both ordered the specialty burrito; there was a little bit of conversation between the two until their burritos came.
"Ah, burritos," Kakime smiled, rubbing her hands together in glee. "These'll calm me down no matter what!!"
"Hm...So you're saying you need to be calmed down with burritos," Shino asked, taking a bite.
"Are you kidding?" Kakime raised her eyebrows," Haven't you ever heard of the Evil Psycho, Kakime?"
Shino swallowed. "I've heard of Evil Kakime and Psycho Kirrii but never Evil Psycho Kakime. Besides I don't think you're evil or anything; I actually like that about you."
Kakime stared at him. "What, that I'm evil?"
Shino looked right back at her. "No, that you won't let anyone give you s**t." He blushed and looked away before continuing," Actually, I've--"
Suddenly he was rudely interrupted by a familar voice shouting," HEY! KAKIME'S ON A DATE WITH BUG FREAK!!!"
Everyobe within a four-block radius of the restaurant that knew Kakime or Shino heard that shout. Some people laughed, others were just disturbed or didn't care but Anko was an entirely different story.
"My sister is DATING??!!" she shouted (Five blocks away from her sister but still able to hear what just been shouted). She had arrived home early from a mission and didn't know about her sister's date. Anko fell to the nearest bench in despair. "DATING!!"
Back at the restuarant, Kakime was boiling mad. She slowly turned her head to find the shouter and she saw Ino being asked to please leave the restaurant by a waiter. Ino snuck a "I got you now!!!" look at them.
"The hell she did not just do that!" Kakime muttered under her breath, standing up from the booth and preparing for a fight.
She's gonna get in a fight!, Shino thought. I gotta stop--hey wait a minute! Kakime and Ino fighting? This is gonna be a catfight! What the hell am I thinking? So he decided to do nothing to stop her except staying in his seat and checking if they served popcorn.
Suddenly as Kakime was walking towards the now-exiting Ino, the entire restaurant fell silent. The entire restuarant! Shino had forgotten they were in a restaurant; what if the other people got hurt? Shino was torn between watching a cat fight or saving others. He just couldn't decide; it was torture. That is until something dawned on him: If he restrained her then he could...his train of thought was interrupted by Kakime throwing a puch at Ino. Just before Kakime's fist connected with Ino's jaw, Kakime felt something warm around her arms, holding them down. Something very soft and warm was also brushing against her cheek.
Arms. Shino's arms were around her; his face was against her cheek. She blushed deeply and didn't notice Ino run away. If I restrain her. Shino completed his thought from earlier, I can hug her!
Keeping one arm around her, Shino gently turned Kakime around and led her back to their booth. He sat her down across from him and then finally let her go to take his own seat.
Kakime smiled. "Smooth move. You did that just to hug me, didn't you?"
"Why else would I break up a catfight," Shino laughed.

Thankfully after the incident with Ino, the date went smoothly. In fact, it went wonderfully; Kakime and Shino talked and laughed for a few hours, long after they finshed their meals. Finally, Shino paid for the burritos and they left. When they stepped outside it was chilly and already dark. Seeing Kakime shiver, Shino looked around to see if anyone was there. When he saw absolutely no one, he took off his jacket and gave it to Kakime. Startled, she took a long look at Shino's face as it turned red. Nervously, he coughed and looked away again.
Slowly and silently, Shino walked Kakime home. Later, they stopped in front of Kakime's house; both of them just stood there, never wanting to say goodbye. Shino smiled and then broke the silence.
"Kakime, I...I've like you for a really long time now," he began. "And I don't know if you have liked me but I...I was wondering if...if, you'd like to you know, be...my girlfriend?"
Elated, Kakime almost jumping on him, laughing like mad. "Yes! I like you SO much, too!"
"I'll wait out here until your light comes on," he said loudly.
"Actually," Kakime replied," I have one more thing to do first."
She looked over Shino's shoulder at something behind him. Before Shino could inquire, Kakime was behind him. He turned around to see Ino with an almost black eye, still being punched by Kakime. After Ino got a bloody nose and fell to the floor, Kakime turned back to Shino, smiling. Giggling, she kissed him on the cheek and ran into the house.
While Shino tried to replay the fight scene in his mind, the lights came on followed by Anko's shouting of "YOU'RE DATING?!! GOD HAVE MERCY!!"
My best friend wrote this for my birthday and I just posted it. xd
