THE KILTED MEN ARE COMING!!!
Has anyone else realised that pretty much every romance novel nowadays features a man in a kilt?

My first discovery was about a week ago, when my family and I were in Bob Cajun (which I do not know how to spell properly, I am merely guessing because I am too lazy to go ask my parents), when we stepped into this little bookstore. I looked around, but didn't really find anything of interest. That was, of course, until I stumbled upon a pair of books, one labeled, "My Devlish Highlander", the other, "My Wicked Scotsman". I chuckled as I read the titles, removing one of them from the shelf and opening it up to the first page, onw which was stamped one of the most humorous page of a romantic novel I had ever read. Although, I admit, I am scarcely known to even give a romance novel a second glance. But, rememberng my friend's words on how much she adored the unintentional hilarity of romance, I picked it up. The first was intentionally funny, I was sure, because it featured a Scotsman speaking to a girl about her father 'whipping her arse' for her poor behaviour, the girl suggesting he execute the task himself. The other was less pleasing, the first page featuring a woman and her to-be groom, whom I was convinced would become a shameless wife-beater. I foolishly informed my mother that I couldn't find a desirable book, following her out of the shop door.

Fully regretting my decision to not accept the chance to buy the splendid book, I set off to find it once again. I searched diligently through every bookstore or library we entered, never seeing heads or tails of the book. Just a few days ago, I had taken a trip to the library, where I had managed to find a romance titled 'The Highlander' and thought, perhaps, that it was just the book under a different title. I was mistaken (but took out the book, as, so far, it has proved to be a good read), and once again took up my search for the book. I realised that in all of my searching, I had forgotten to look in the place that I could call home. The 'World Wide Wizzeb' as some would affectionately title it. I didn't care what it was called; it was my only hope of finding that blessed book once again. Once I had located the book on a site of romance novels, I was surprised to find many titles (Including 'The Higland Vampire') that featured Scots, or men in kilts, and only in a small section of the books.

So my question is: why the fascination with the Scotts? Sure, they may have rather attractive accents, but why set the most beautiful woman alive with a man who walks around in a skirt? Now, I'm not saying I have any problem with them, being part Scottish myself, but where, I must wonder, did this sudden obsession with them come from? When did it develop? Had it been laying dorment in each writer's imagination until, one day, with a mighty roar from the grand high beast of Scot-lover, they all awoke, springing to action?

Whatever the reason, I suppose I should try to calm the beast, because, quite frankly, I do not need to be constanly asked why men in kilts keep popping up in my artwork, stories, or otherwise. However, should the mighty beast within me stir, I suppose I will have to live with my thoughts and actions ever plagued with images and descriptions of the kilt-bearing men.

But, I suppose, they're accents are alluring, and I've always been a girl who loves plaid.
