"Fourteenth, I have an assignment for you. I think that you will rather enjoy it. You get to use some decent Evomons for a change," he said with a faint smile on his face.
"I'm sure that I will..." I said while still trying to figure out the Gii.
"This is an assignment that only upper level grunts could dream of doing. You will get to use Swift the Tama and Scream the Pathecorax Agate."
"Aren't those only for really important missions? I heard that they are some of the strongest Evomons Team Sprocket has." I said failing to hide the wonder in my voice. I was just a mid-level grunt, I usually got stuck with getting more Phee Chans.
"Precisely my point. You are going to get the new Evomon spotted in a field in Barton Town. The Alruna's Rose."
"And why are you sending me?"
"Because all of the good grunts are out on assignments."
"Of course, so you send me. The decent mid-level grunt."
"If you do well, you may get a promotion...which means larger quarters, and a larger paycheck," he said with a smile.
"All right. I'll do it," I said, finally giving in.
"Good. Go down to the nursery and get the Evomons. The attendent will ask you to sign your name."

I went back to my quarters and got a couple Evoballs. I didn't figure I'd need very many, after all how hard could it be to capture a rose?
I proceeded down to the nursery. I was thankful that I wasn't a nursery attendent. The Evomons could be pretty dangerous at times.
"Hey there. Executive Edvard sent me down here to get two Evomons for my assignment. I need Swift the Tama and Scream the Agate."
"Yes, yes. The executive called and said you'd be coming. Here are there Evoballs," she said all in one breath.
This place has some strange characters, I thought. "Thanks for your help." I proceeded to walk away when she called after me.
"WAIT! I need your signature for the record!!" she called frantically.
I signed the paper with my normal signature.
"Fourteenth, huh? What's your name anyway, and why are you called Fourteenth?" She asked, obviously glad that she had someone to talk to that spoke English.
"My name is not important. However, I will tell you why I'm called Fourteenth. When I was younger, there were a band of people called Organization XIII, and I dreamed of being the XIV Member of their group. Hence, why I'm called Fourteenth."
"Well okay then. I had been wondering that for a while," she said obviously let down that it was not a big secret.
Then I left Headquarters, eager to start the mission.
"Let's go Scream!" I threw the blue Evoball into the air. With a brilliant flash of blue light, a mighty griffon popped out.
"Agaaaaate!" the majestic creature shrieked.
Scream turned out to be a very trusting Evomon. He let me mount him with no objections.
"Let's fly!" I said to him. We took off with a start. Before I knew it I was flying high above Headquarters and heading South to Barton Town. When we approached the field, I told him to land. He landed gracefully on the grass. "That was some great work, Scream. You've earned a nice long rest. Return!" With another flash of blue light the Evomon returned.
"Now let's find this rose," I said to myself. Despite being here a lot in my youth, I had forgotten how large this field actually was. I journeyed around for quite sometime before seeing it.
It was a beautiful rose with a strange, almost seductive feeling to it. It had a small demonic flame on it's leaf. I approached it slowly. I was just about to bend down and touch when a mysterious figure appeared.
"AHA! Don't take another step or you shall die!" the strange figure said. "I am Jacob! I found this Evomon first! I know who you are!!"
"Okay then, Jacob, but I really need that rose," I said calmly. I remembered that you were always supposed to approach crazies with a calm attitude.
"Well I was here first! And if you try to do anything about it I'll stop you!!!"
"Really now? How do you plan to do that?" I said making sure that he could detect my smugness.
"I'll use my Evomon, that's how!! I got it from the Cash Shop the day he was introduced!"
"Okay then. Let's battle."
"If that's how it must be! GO Freeze!" With a flash of white light, a Pora Ice popped out.
"Porrrrra." The Evomon was obviously a lot calmer than it's trainer. I almost felt sorry for him.
"Let's go, Swift." A flash of white light appeared and the Tama popped out.
"Taaaaamaaa!" the creature said, ready to fight.
"Freeze, Take Down!"
"Swift, use Fury Swipes to counterattack." Swift succeeded in hitting the Pora Ice, making him fall to the ground. "Now Swift, go in with Quick Attack!" The Tama struck him, knocking out the Pora Ice.
"Return Freeze!! I swear, you have not seen the last of me! I am Jacob and I WILL be back!!" Jacob then fled into the nearby forest.
I rolled my eyes one last time before turning to Swift. "You did a wonderful job. I'll make sure that you get your favorite treat. Return." The Tama returned to his Evoball.
"Now to get that rose." I approached the rose and threw the blue Evoball at the beautiful rose. The rose of course made no attempt to escape.
"Finally," I said with a sigh.
"Let's go, Scream!" I mounted him and flew back to headquarters.
I arrived just as night was falling. I walked in and headed to the nursery. Just my luck the same attendent was there. "Hello. Back from your mission already?"
"Yeah. Just got back."
"I hope that you succeeded. If you didn't the Boss would probably assign you to do something horrible next," she said, enjoying the moment.
"I succeeded. I brought back the specimen. Here are Swift and Scream." I signed my name once again.
I walked to the labratory. I gave the Evoball to the scientist.
"Ah! You brought the Alruna's Rose!" he said, very excited. Obviously the members here needed to see daylight more. "Edvard said thaat he wanted to see you."
"Great."
I went to the fifth floor, and then into Edvard's office. I couldn't help myself, I plopped into the white armchair.
"Fourteenth. Great work."
"Thanks," I said breathlessly.
"You are hereby an upper level grunt," he said happily. "Your next assignment will be an easier one."
"Thank goodness."
"Your new quarters are on the third floor, room 94. You will find that all of your belongings have been relocated there."
"Thank you so much, Edvard."
"Dismissed."
I headed to my new quarters, which were double the size of my previous quarters. I plopped on the bed and fell asleep instantly.
