Slumber
Shattered heart and broken dreams,
As I rest my head to sleep,
Those ones, those few, wake me,
And lie again,
and again.
All I wish is to rest,
But they do not let me.
Binding me here, for moments at a time,
Before leaving this empty shell to rot.
And rot I have,
So now I am not me.
Arms envelope me for moments again, to bring me,
Momentarily,
Back.
But down I will fall again,
Till my eyes close,
But then they will be reopened.
As a puppet,
I am disowned.
As a manipulator,
I am hated.
I just wish to sleep,
And let these duties work themselves out.
But tightened chains hold me back.
That leash, my heart,
Keeps me from my eternal,
My desired,
My death,
My slumber.
Just let me sleep.
