I just wanted to say my two cents as practically everyone has on this movie.
I enjoyed it, just as about half of the people did as I'm seeing the movie is about half well liked and half highly disliked.
Audiences complained about the motion and I really don't see what was bugging them there. Nay-sayers try to point out that "no battery lasts that long" and that there was "not enough data for so much to be recorded." These people are probably the ones that didn't like it becuase they don't pay attention to details, if they can make a laptop battery 8hrs I'm pretty sure they can make a camera battery that can do the same, also new cameras are using SD cards to record and they can definitely record eight hours easy.
As for the characters I will admit they were a bit shallow. I mean I know that Robert loves Beth, but if he thought about it she would be dead (and in any other place than movie-land she would have been). None of the characters thought "hmm maybe I need an effing gun? as all those creatures are running around and with visceral fulmination as a consequence for being bitten you'd think that someone would beg that army (or national guard technically) guy for a M-16 A2 and a few Hand Grenades.
Another reason I think people didn't like this movie was becuase they were rooting for the wrong team. In the movie I think I enjoyed it better becuase I was rooting for the monster becuase the ending was almost directly taken from The Blair Witch Project.
The last reason I feel they may not have liked it is becuase the same or different people don't realize that this is the first of many movies to come, so all your questions weren't answered, they will be later and they would be if you get sit down and read a Manga (4 set prequel is due out soon).
I liked the move becuase it's the first original franchise idea since The Matrix. Everything else has been the same recycled crap sprayed with some febreeze and offered with a different title.
