Elegant Angel That You Are

Tonight I cast my heart to the sky
Bid me well, stars sparkling high
Your presence is found in the caress of the breeze
Feeling the cold around me seize

Eyes closed, tears are warm to my cheek
My fingers keep clawing for the one I seek
A song from the heart is playing its tune
One whose meaning I forgot so soon

I'll sing along to the lyrics I know
Fraught by the rhythm lost so long ago
Surprised by the beauty of love at hand
Knowing that this wasn't something I planned

The seemingly empty space at my side
The same in which my shadow will hide
Waits to linger in the moonlit night
As every emotion is wisped out of sight

Hand to my chest, the thunder beats close
Bursting in love for he who means most
Fear for what should and could possibly be
Fades to black, for he has set me free

That love of heart, with power and grace
Outlined within your delicate face
Like a droplet of cool summer tears
Tracing your jaw and wisdom of years

Eyes closed, I can feel your lips
And the light, gentle touch of your finger tips
Despite all the fears of faltered mistakes
The touches, the feelings, the infinite fakes

Wrapped in your arms, I feel complete
