Together they stood
Forever we’ll know
The bravery and courage
That they wanted to show.
The heart and the tears
It took to make us see,
A group of people we could be.
Fighting for rights,
Standing up for beliefs
Keeping them safe
From powerful thief’s.
Praying for hope
Without fear
Made their cries loud and clear.
They never gave up
They never stood down,
The look of freedom
They wore like a crown.
We’ll always remember
On a special day
What Martin Luther King Jr.
Used to say
What he called
So far in the past
“ Thank god almighty
We are free at last”
