No one will ever know, for no one will ever see, not a single one of you... will ever know the real me...
Why Emos Are The Way They Are: My Reply to a Guild Thread
I don't mean to be rude, but really, don't you think that you should try to actually put yourself in their shoes first, before judging them? I mean, yes, there are some that do that just for the heck of it, but there are also the non-fakers out there -- the people that do it for a reason. And as you should all know, being emo isn't all about cutting, so don't just hate on them because you think they're doing it for attention. Real emos are the extremely emotional people, hence their label, and most likely have gone through so many sufferings and pain that can cause massive psychological stress and/or damage. Some of them just cry it all out, while some look for another way to vent it all out, which usually ends up in cutting. They do it to help lighten the burden they carry. I mean, yes, there are other ways to let it out, but it's their choice which way they should do it, no? They could have talked it out with someone, most likely a friend, but if they don't choose that, then that means that either they don't want to share the pain with the people they care about or because they feel as if they may lose that person if they find out. For example... let's see, what's one of the worst things I can think of??? Okay. Let's say your mother has died a couple of years back, your father still unmarried and stressed out from the extra working he has to do to support the family. (Pretend you're a young girl, around 12 or 13, everyone) Then suddenly, one night, you fall asleep in your parents' room. He starts getting closer to you and starts feeling you up (lonely, y'know. His wife is dead and he's too busy and tired to find himself a girlfriend). You pretend you're asleep and start moving away from him, nearer to the wall. He just gets closer and starts taking off your clothes and everything. And I think you all know what happens next. Okay. So, if you were that imaginary girl (I have such a morbid mind, I tell you), who, let's say, is afraid that her friends will leave her if they find out, would you tell them or keep that horrid experience all to yourself? You'd keep it to yourself, right? Exactly. Because you don't want to lose them. So instead, these people, these emos, keep that heavy burden to themselves, and when it finally gets too much, they resort to relieving themselves of some of their pain or sorrow, may it be through cutting, crying, screaming out in frustration, or whatever method they find most suitable. Oh yes, and to that person that said they don't want to cut because it will leave a scar, and that scar will only bring back the memories and depress you, well, all I can say is this: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. To those who don't get what I mean by that, it's this: The scar will bring back bad memories, yes, but if you're still alive at that time, then that means that that scar, that those memories, those horrible experiences, that they only keep you going. I mean, that's all you can really do, right? Move on? Well, that, or get stuck in the past, and once you're stuck, it's nearly impossible to catch up with the present.

I feel as if I'm missing something there... I got a bit carried away... oh well. I'll just post again when I remember it.

Oh, and the people that caused me to start talking like that was (and I'm naming names, thank you very much) Kemonomimi-chan, who is practically disgusted by emos, that person that I was talking about before -- the person that spoke of not wanting to cut because scar equals bad memories equals more depression -- and Kagumi-chan, who had been defending emos.

The main reason why is because I am an emo myself. No, I don't cut; I let it out through tears, music, and literature, but mostly tears nowadays. I had to straighten you people out. You guys are stereotyping (against my kind, to be more specific) and that is downright wrong. Stereotyping is basically prejudice, only it's based on a group of people and not an individual. That, Kemonomimi-chan, is what is yuck. Judging people you don't know based on others. I'd like to see the lot of you go through what we emos have gone through. Hah! I'd like to see how the lot of you would react to everything. I bet that you would become one of us, or worse, just plain commit suicide. Hmph.
