Merry Christmas Eve and Thrift Stores
So my mom's best friend since they were kids came to visit on Saturday. =] She's cool. =]

Today my Mom, Aunt Lisa (my mom's friend), my Dad, and I all went thrift store shopping. We pulled up at this Thrift Store called "Cause For Paws", which is pretty cool. All the proceeds go to saving animals/adoption, etc. =] We went in to see all this beautiful furniture from, like, the 1940's. =] I really wish we could've gotten this pretty blue and silver table set. I totally would put it in my apartment [if I had an apartment...]. I walked around a little, gazing at all the different sizes, shapes, colors, and cleanliness of old bottles and jars which plagued almost three shelving units. I've always liked pretty bottles, glasses and jars, but I've been trying really hard to get rid of and not buy any more. I'm going to college next year, and I don't know how much I want to have to lug there with me, if I'll have room for it there or at my house once I'm done getting rid of everything. Anyhow, I came across this random fuzzy notebook sitting on the bottom shelf among all of these strangely-shaped jars. It was yellow and fuzzy with Pooh Bear's face on the front. I thought it was cute, and was going to continue walking, but I decided to pick it up and open it. It had been somebody's journal. I scrolled through the three pages which had been written on. The handwriting curved down to the side slightly, as the paper was not lined. There was no name signed. I'd prefer not to go into what they discussed, as I already feel terrible for reading it. I have decided I'm going to write a few pages of my own, then find somewhere to drop it off, only to hope another girl picks it up and continues the tradition.

For some reason, I bought it. The weird thing was that the lady who was working that day [a short, kinda fat lady who kept saying Merry Christmas (she was sweet)] and owns the thrift store, couldn't remember it, and couldn't find a price she had written on it. She gave it to me for $1 [you have to love thrift stores (I've always wanted to work at one [maybe I could work there?])]. I'm still not sure whether I feel settled enough or not to write in it and pass it on. ]x

This thrift store also had almost FOUR HUGE boxes of Greeting Cards. The lady sold them to me by THE POUND. $2 A POUND. It was incredible. I'll never have to buy Greeting Cards AGAIN. x] I also bought this roll of paper (for an old typewriter or calculator/receipt thing), and CL and I drew on it. =] It's a BLAST. I'm going back later to buy more [and ask if they're hiring...=] ].

My friends and I sent out a huge bunch of cards and hot chocolate to this one troop stationed in Iraq. The guy emailed me saying how much he liked the hot chocolate, and how much they appreciated the cards. I cried when I read the email. =] So my Mom and Dad went out and bought a 60 PACK of Swiss Miss hot chocolate packs, and I'm going to send that along with more cards. =]

MERRY CHRISTMAS. Santa's on his way. =]
