As I sit up in the saddle
Upon my horse tonight
I quietly gaze in front of me
Into the arena lights.
Lord, this is the big one -
The final rodeo,
So now I ask for your gentle hand
To guide me as I go.
Please lend me protection
And send good wisdom, too
So that I may continue to exalt your name
In everything I do.
Keep your watchful eye upon my horse
As he turns those barrels sharp,
For the only way we can succeed
Is to share one mind, soul, and heart.
I pray that you will help us
To do our very best.
We really have worked hard, Lord,
To be faster than the rest.
It's time for us to make our run,
They've done called my name,
So I leave my worries with you, dear Lord...
Let me not be put to shame.
Lord, as we gather today to celebrate the bond between horse and rider, we ask that you grant us safety now until the last horse crosses the finish line.
As we send our horses hard toward the first barrel help us remember the many people in public service that work hard each day to make our lives safe.
After we turn that first barrel help us to remember that there is more to life than winning. As we push towards the second barrel and make a beautiful turn, may we think deeply and appreciate the pleasure we get from the horses that power our way.
Lord, as we turn the third barrel towards home, help us remember the many hours of hard work that go into training a horse to run the pattern and win. This is an amazing sport, a sport that makes us laugh and sometimes cry.
A sport of sure determination and often luck. Help us not to blame our animals for our lack of preparation and respect them for who they are. We are all here for one reason so help us celebrate our common love for barrel racing.
Lord, help us remember that even when all goes wrong, you are always right! Keep us safe, God Bless each of us today and God Bless America.

A Barrel Racer's Prayer
I'm a Barrel Racer Lord. A quick time is all I need.
Just to turn these three barrels with a desent amount of speed.
I'v hauld a lot of miles to run these barrel horse of mine.
To make each barrel race and then next one down line.
If it's a spill that I take please Lord keep the dirt soft,
For another run I'll make just as soon as I dust off.
My chin I'll keep it up and my tears I'll try to hide.
Then I'll climb back in my saddle ever anxious for my next ride.
With heart and will in hand to win or lose with grace.
For some other girl will want to win this very same barrel race.
So let us ride as one Lord my barrel horse and me.
For hard work and persevcranco I believe this is the key.
We've trained and we've worked hard and if I win you will know of course.
To you I'll give the glory, to you and my horse.
WHEN U FALL OFF YOUR HORSE IN THE ARENA AND YOU KNOW YOU HAVE LOST. BUT WHEN YOU GET UP AND DUST YOURSELF OFF AND WALK TO YOUR HORSE, PAT EM ON THE NECK AND GIVE EM A KISS ON THE NOSE. GET BACK IN UR SADDLE, PUT A BIG SMILE ON YOUR FACE AND RERUN YOUR PATTERN AND WHEN YOU COME OUT OF THOSE GATES WITH A GRIN FROM EAR TO EAR,THATS WHEN YOU ARE A WINNER. IT TAKES THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TO BECOME A WINNER.IT ALSO TAKES TEAM WORK. SO REMEMBER TO PRAZE YOUR HORSE FOR WHATEVER HE OR SHE HAS DONE. EVEN IF YOU WON OR LOST. CAUSE A PAT ON THE NECK AND A FEW KIND WORDS IS THE ONLY PAYCHECK THEY GET.
I love all of these, I say one every time I go into the arena. As I always like to say "I do my best, but God does the rest"
