Another note to my dear readers -

Well,here it is,chaper 9.This will be my finale chapter until I finish the next instalation - I am only a paragraph into chapter 10 in my private notebook at school - but I really hope to get this done by November.

I also would like to say that I will not be on from November 9th to November 11th,due to the fact that I will be celebrating my 14th birthday with a relaxing weekend with my family.I hope that you all will understand.Thank you.

Chapter 9: Salvation Without a Meaning

She sat there like that,trying to ignore the faint whispering and the occational shuffling.She opened her eyes and lifted her head.The whispering was starting to sound fainter with each passing moment.The demons were now about 20 meters away from her.She blinked in surprise as she saw that they were moving away from her.As she watched them back away into the shadows,she reached up and brushed a stry lock of hair from her eyes.Her skin felt warm again.Excited,she rubbed her arms,then her legs.They,too,felt warm to the touch.
That is why they are backing away. She thought to herself.I am still showing signs that my body is still alive.
Something appered through the darkness,peircing the shadows.It was faint,but its glow filled her with hope.She stood up,never taking her eyes off of the light,stumbling to it.A sound emited from it.A cough,muffled out by the sound of a crackling fire.She continued to step closer until she came upon a door.

The door was lined with a mixture of gold and silver.Topaz and jade was carved in a beautiful manner to form two large handels,each about a foot long,embeded into the middle of the door.Diamonds and other stones were embeded into the smooth,black marble slab that created the two faces of the double doors.Ivy wrapped it self around the door and handles.It was still sprouting new flowers and leaves but appeared to be frozen in time.And even though it looked like it had grown only several months ago,it let off an aura that made Aliria think that it had been there since the dawn of time.
She could hear the sounds of the camp from the door behind it.She banged on the door,hoping someone would hear.It wouldn't budge when she first tried to open it,but when she strained every muscel in her body,it moved and opened.Light filtered around the small crack that she managed to make,blinding her for a moment.She pulled on the handle harder and her eyes soon adjusted to the blinding white light.She felt like she had stepped through it before.
"The...The Door of Life?"She muttered as she stepped into the light.

A rough cloth scratched at her skin,making Aliria want to scratch at it.She could hear the hissing of a fire and someone shifting near her.She shifted slightly below the rough cloth,laying there,savoring its warmth.The person shifted again,the ruffling of its clothes sounded like it was a giant making the noise insted of a humans.If it was human.She opened her eyes,looking up at a cloudless morning sky.Her blanket and arms were covered with dew,showing that she had been there for quite some time.She rolled her head over to look at the person and fire that she had heard.Leneth was sitting by the fire,shifting painfully every few moments.He had an alarming gash on his left forearm and minor cuts across his face and arms.
"We failed the mission."He said sadly,handing her a flask and and a half of a loaf of bread.
"How long have I been out?"She asked him,proping herself up on her elbows.She grited her teeth as pain clawed at her abdomen,where she has stabbed.
"Four days including today."
He stomach growled at the though aas she tore into the bread.It tasted dry and stale,but she was too hungry to care.
"Try not to drink so fast."Leneth warned her after she nearly chocked on the water.
"Your fever only broke last night and you don't know how long I had to spend to dress that nasty wound."
She had nearly forgoten about it until pain sank its teeth into her flesh as she out the flask onto the ground.She sat up with a grunt and pulled her shirt up enough to see her waist.A rough,blood stained cloth was wrapped around her wast,and she pulled her shirt back down,grimincing at the thought of what it looked like underneath.
"How did you get that gash?"She asked him,looking at the cut.
"Oh,this thing?"He aksed,holding up his arm to look at it.
"You weren't the only group to get ambushed.We ere outnumbered and fell right into their trap."He stopped for a moment and closed his eyes,as of to remember to attack.
"Luckly,we only had to fight a smalled number of Guardians then you did.Unfourtunatly,one of the generals broke through my flank guard and left my this nasty scratch."Leneth returned his arm to his side.
Aliria finished her bread and took one last gulp of water before she layed back down.She noticed small coloms of smoke rising off in the distance and asked Leneth about them.
"'I am burning the bodies of the dead,ally and enemy alike.Many suffered great wounds,but soon died by the time I got to them.When I went to get you,some were still alive,but just barely,but you appeared dead.I walked past them and picked you up."The way they looked at her made Aliria look away from him.
"So why save me?"She asked him.He only looked into the fire then answered,
"To be honest,I do not one.I just felt like saving only you back there..."He looked away from the fire and back at her,a serious look in his eyes,and leaned to her.
"You have great things ahead of you,Aliria,I can feel it."
He whispered it so softly,she could barely hear him.She turned haed away from him,slightly out of embarassment,the other,she was slightly disturbed by his words.The words echoed through her head as she rolled over and started to drift back off.She was happy that she had at least lived through the battle that would change Carna forever.
