I was sitting in the car and I noticed something sticking out of the back of my brother's shirt..... it was a long, skinny, brown mushroom. He took off his shirt and there were several of these mushrooms growing in the center of his back on/near his spine.

I'd read about these parasitic mushrooms before... these mushrooms grow on bugs [particularly ants or moths]... they start out as a parasite inside the brain causing the bug to act strange and soon the parasite bursts out of the skull and sprouts a mushroom. It's very contageous and will wipe out whole colonies of insects in just a few days, so when one insect notices the other is acting strange they remove him from the group.

I remembered this and rushed my brother to the hospital. They tested him, and the insurance covered all but $275 of it. He tested positive for this parasite and they started him on an antibiotic. I was watching a video about the parasite and antibiotic... you see, the antibiotic won't attack the mushrooms until the mushrooms begin to spore. Once they spore they release a toxin that will ultimately shut down the kidneys and liver, almost immediately. The recent discovery of the antibiotic they put my brother on was the only cure they've found to date. It's almost like an acid that coats the white blood cells. The white blood cells will only attack the mushrooms only after they begin to secrete toxins. Since the cells are coated with this acidic-like substance it immediately kills the roots of the mushrooms resulting in the death of the parasite. The mushrooms will then fall off once the parasite has been killed.

The underlying meaning: My brother is a fungus in my eyes. He is a parasite that spreads itself across the forest floor killing everything in it's path.
