Its been two weeks since the incident with Heather but it feels like a decade. I've spent the last two weeks with Edward and helping him control his blood thirsty side and it actually worked. Of course, his thrist will never be quenched unless he feeds on mere human blood, but Edward vowed to never kill another human again unless for protection purposes.
One evening I came back from the forest with Demosthenes, it was hard teaching him how to fend for himself ever since Edward took him away from his dragon family but I believe Demosthenes enjoys my company. I came home and opened the door but the house seemed quiet, too quiet. Demosthenes flew through the door and landed on top of the table, sniffing and clawing his way through a piece of paper. I stepped foward but Demosthenes quickly turned around knocking something off the table, ready to follow incase I left. I walked over beside the table and searched the floor until I saw a little sparkle beneath the chair, I began to reach for it as it caught my eye. I placed the object within my hand, resting it on my palm and observing the beautiful patterns that seemed to follow the edge of the object. I realized that this was no ordinary object, it was a beautiful silver antique ring.
I wondered where this ring came from, it must have been the object that fell from the table but who would leave such a beautiful ring in a place like this? Edward? Impossible. Demosthenes ripped the piece of paper in half and chewed on one of the halves, satisfied with himself for his honorable mess. I quickly grabbed the piece from his mouth and took the one near his claws. Demosthenes wined and complained but I notice writting on the paper, maybe it was some sort of letter. I placed both halves on the counter and pressed my hands against it to keep from folding. Most of the letter was eligible to read but some words were smudged or torn from Demosthenes sharp teeth. My eyes examined the letter, but the first word that was written was Serenity. This letter had to be from Edward..
It read:
Serenity,
I appreciate the help you have given me the past few weeks, but I am afraid my thirst is growing stronger. If I stay any longer I may endanger you and any other human that steps in my way. By the time you read this letter I will be far away from you as possible, please do not worry about me. I will be searching for other vampires in the country and maybe even around the world to help cure or calm down my thirst without taking human blood. I realize that this is a dangerous sistuation but it must be done Serenity, I will search until the right vampires cross my path and share their knowledge with me. Hopefully, I will be stronger to refuse human blood or crave another animal that will quench my thirst like humans do. I will return one day my love, until then I left something for you. Wear it and remember me always, this ring shows the love I have for you and that one day I will return to be by your side, I promise.
