Chapter 3
Years pasted so fast. It was like a blink of an eye. Fifty years pasted as I lived peacefully in a village, only because I swore to protect them from any demon that entered the area. I watched all the village children grow up so fast, it was amazing. I forced myself to forget the memories of Inuyasha and Kikyou, basically my whole past I forced myself to forget.
“Lady Eri?” One child asked, he was called Gaku.
He was one of the 15 children I watched grow up. He was my favorite, only because he listened to me closely and always talked to me.
Now he was leaving the village to go off to war, he was about 16 now. Next to me he was taller by a few inches. I never knew how fast humans grow. When I came here they weren’t even born. When Gaku was born he fit safely in my hands now he was taller then me.
“Yes?” I asked and smiled up at Gaku.
“I’ve been meaning to tell you something but I don’t know how to put it,” Gaku said and was blushing. I could hear his heart bounding out of his chest.
“Just say it, Gaku, how ever you choose to say it I won’t think differently of you,” I told him to help him get his words out.
“Lady Eri,” He said and his face was as red as red rose, “I love you!”
I wasn’t surprised; almost all of the boys I helped raise told me this.
“I’ve loved you since I can remember,” Gaku said (All the boys told me this too), “You found me when I broke my arm in the valley! You were always nice to me, even when I did something bad!”
“Gaku,” I said and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Please, will you marry me when I return from war?” He asked.
I looked into his eyes; I used my powers to see into his future. I saw him dieing in the battle. I looked down trying to decide what to say.
“Yes, Gaku, I will,” I said.
He was going to be the only one who will die in the battle.
“You will?” He asked and was smiling; he was just getting redder by the minute.
“Yes, please return safely,” I said calmly.
“I will, Lady Eri! I will!” He exclaimed.
“Please call me Eri,” I said.
“I love you Eri,” He said and kissed my forehead.
I said nothing. He just left as I walked back to my hut. All these girls came up to me as I was walking.
“Did he propose?” A girl named Nana asked me.
“Yes,” I replied.
“That’s great! He has always liked you, Lady Eri!” Another girl named Shinako exclaimed.
“How many did you get all together?” Another called Nobara asked.
“I got six proposals,” I said.
“You’re so lucky!” Tomoyo exclaimed.
“Except, Gaku’s going to die,” I said quietly.
“What?!” All four girls exclaimed.
“I looked into his future, I said that to bring him hope,” I said and walked into my hut.
“How come he’s going to die?” Nobara asked.
“Fate and by the leader of the village,” I replied.
Later on that day, while I slept, a demon entered the village. Once I smelled the demon I got up. The smell was familiar. I couldn’t place my finger on it but it was a dog, that’s all I knew.
As I walked out of the hut. As I was out an arrow was shot, I dodged it easily.
“Demon! Where’s the shard?” A younger girl yelled.
She was dressed oddly, a short green skirt; an odd white, green, and red top. She had long flowing hair that reached her shoulders. But her scent, it sparked memories.
“Kikyou,” I growled, yes it was Kikyou. That face, that hair, that scent.
“I’m not Kikyou!” She yelled and shot another arrow.
“How can you not be? You smell exactly like her!” I yelled and dodged the arrow shot at me, it hit my home.
“Lady Eri!” The village girls yelled as they ran over to me.
“No! Stay away!” I yelled at the girls.
The girls didn’t listen, five ran in front of Kikyou, and two jumped in front of me.
“Don’t shoot her, please!” Nana begged.
“Please!” The five girls begged.
“She’s a demon, you defend a demon?” Kikyou asked.
“She’s a good demon! She hasn’t hurt a fly since she came here to live in our village 50 years ago!” Tomoyo exclaimed.
Kikyou lowered her bow. She sighed and walked up to me.
“I’m sorry for shooting arrows at you,” Kikyou said and held out her hand.
“You pinned Inuyasha to a tree Kikyou, why? I thought you loved him,” I said without shaking the hand, “I also thought you followed him to hell after killing him.”
“I told you! I’m not Kikyou! My name is Kagome!” She yelled at me.
“Kagome!” I heard a little boy yell as he ran towards us.
He jumped into her arms.
“Stay away!” The boy exclaimed, he was a fox demon. He had a bushy tail and pointed ears.
I turned away and started to walk back to my home as I was attacked. Someone attacked me from the front and missed. Dirt was thrown up along with dust.
“So this is the demon with the shards,” A voice said that I remembered from some where.
Dust was in my way of attacking. Once it cleared there was a figure. A young man, long white hair, dog ears, red clothing, and a very large sword pointed at me.
Inuyasha? I thought.
“Eri?” He asked and lowered his weapon.
“Inuyasha!” I exclaimed and hugged him.
He dropped his weapon and hugged me back. I noticed his weapon turn into a human sword.
“You know her?” The girl Kagome asked.
“She’s my childhood friend,” Inuyasha said let me go. As I did.
“Lady Eri, how long have you known each other?” Nobara asked.
“Um…200 years?” I asked Inuyasha.
“Somewhere along those lines,” Inuyasha said.
“You’re that old?!” Shinako exclaimed.
“Yeah, like dirt,” I said and rubbed my neck.
Inuyasha laughed as everyone else did.
“Lady Kagome, did you find the one with the shards?” A young monk and demon slayer ran over to us.
“We did,” The fox demon said.
“Oh, Eri, this is Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango and Kirara,” Inuyasha said as he pointed at the girl, the fox demon, the monk, the demon slayer and the demon on the demon slayer’s shoulder.
“Please to meet you,” I said and bowed.
The monk walked up to me. He grasped my hands.
“Will you bare my child?” Miroku asked.
Inuyasha, Sango, and I hit the monk very hard on the head.
“Please don’t call me a demon, I’m a water sprit,” I said, “My name is Eri.”
“Hi,” Kagome said it was kind of cold.
“Please stay for the night,” I said.
I looked over to the village girls.
“Will you please prepare the guest house?” I asked, “I will be over shortly to help.”
“Yes, Lady Eri,” They replied, bowed and walked off.
“Where are all the men?” Sango asked.
“They left for war,” I said, “Please follow me.”
I lead them to the hot springs in the woods.
“We have springs, please take a bath. Girls on the right, men on the left,” I said and bowed, “I’ll be back in a moment with towels and soap.”
I left them and went back towards the village. I gathered the towels and soap and walked back to the springs.
Everyone was in the springs when I came to the entrance. The two were split by a tall wooden wall. I walked into the girl side first. Before I entered the area I overheard a conversation.
“Kagome, are you jealous of that girl, Eri?” The woman Sango asked.
“I guess I am, she’s known Inuyasha for a long time. Then she looked like she was going to kill me when we first met,” Kagome said.
I walked in smiling.
“Excuse me, here are the towels and soap; please make yourselves at home,” I said and placed two towels and the soap on the just outside the water.
I turned around and left. I just ignored their conversation and walked into the boys’ bath.
I repeated my line that I said the woman. I bowed and left. I walked to the guest house. There I found the village girls working their butts off.
“I’m here,” I said and started to help.
The rooms didn’t have a good cleaning in years. The place was still dusty when I entered the room.
There were 4 small beds; they all now had new sheets and pillows. We cleaned the mirrors, windows everything. We didn’t stop until the room was spotless.
“We’ll need another bed,” I said.
“There are none left, Lady Eri,” Keiko said as she looked at me. She was possibly the sweetest girl out of the bunch. She was the youngest but the most mature. The other girls always went off flirting with the men. She stayed behind and just talked with me.
“Alright, I’ll give up my bed,” I said.
“What?” The girls asked.
“I’ll go check up on our guests,” I said and left the girls looking so confused.
I walked over to the bathing area to find the girls walking out.
“Please, I’ll take your things and come this way,” I took the many odd items I had never seen before from Kagome but Sango insisted she cared her boomerang.
I lead them to the guest house.
“But there’s only four beds,” Kagome said.
“I’m going to give up my bed for one of you,” I said.
“Awww! How sweet,” Sango said.
“Thank you,” Kagome said and bowed.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I must see that the men come here,” I said, then bowed and left.
I rushed over to my hut, to find my bed was already changed.
“We got it done, Lady Eri,” Taki said.
“Thank you,” I replied and rushed over to the bathing area once more.
The men were still in the bath. I sighed and walked into the area.
“Excuse me but are you almost-“I looked up to see Inuyasha just getting out of the bath without a towel on.
I jumped back and blushed madly.
“EXCUSE ME!” I screamed and rushed out of the area.
I summoned water and splashed Inuyasha. I knew because I heard him yell my name. I waited for them to come out. But only Inuyasha came, with a towel on only. I blushed again, he had a perfect chest, and every mussel was toned.
“Why’d you come in?!” He yelled at me.
“I’m sorry!” I bowed and stayed in that position.
“Eri, you can’t just walk in on men bathing!” He yelled scolding me like a child.
“I just hadn’t expected you to get out of the spring just as I entered!” I yelled and shot up at him.
“You can’t do that though!” He yelled.
“I’m not a child! Stop treating me like one!” I yelled.
“Well stop acting like one!” He yelled back.
I looked down, tears formed at my eyes. I couldn’t believe it, I was an adult now. He was treating me like a child.
“Eri,” He whispered.
He’ll never like me, it’s no use, I thought.
I chuckled slightly.
“You’ve changed,” I said and looked up at him. Tears still coming down, “You never were soft like this in public, only in front of me. Allow me to ask this; did that girl, Kagome, change you?”
“Eri,” He said and lifted his hand up to my face.
“Don’t ‘Eri’ me!” I yelled, I batted away his hand, “Just tell me! Did she change you or not?!”
He paused and looked into my eyes, so softly.
“Yes she did, I love her for that,” He said.
I looked at him, I rubbed my eyes. I turned around and quietly said, “Please hurry up and change, tell your friends that too.”
I turned to see that he was already in the bathing area. I waited patiently for them to come out. When they did they were completely dressed.
“Follow me,” I said and started walking to the guest house.
We entered the guest house.
“I am giving up my bed for tonight, since we only have four beds,” I said.
Miroku smiled and started to walk to the home.
“Slow down, tiger,” Sango said and grabbed Miroku’s shirt, “We don’t want you to get any ideas.”
“I’ll return, please discuss it between yourselves,” I said and bowed and left.
I went to the kitchen. The village women and I started to cook.
“Eri, can I have some water?” One mother said, she was called Fu.
“Sure thing!” I exclaimed and summoned water into the pot.
“Thank you,” She said and bowed and started cooking,
It was about two hours slaving in the kitchen till we finished. It smelled wonderful.
“Morin, will you take this to the guests?” Fu asked her daughter who was only 9 years old.
“Sure thing, mother!” Morin exclaimed happily.
“Actually, Morin, may I take that to the guests?” I asked.
I took the 6 plates, balanced them on water and walked to the guest house.
When I entered I found five of Inuyasha’s companions sleeping peacefully.
“Inuyasha,” I whispered knowing he would hear.
“Yeah?” He asked.
I pulled the water out from behind me.
“I brought food,” I replied.
The moment I said food everyone was up.
“Thanks,” Inuyasha said taking a plate and sat in a corner.
The others came over and took their plates and said thank you and ate.
“By the way, Lady Eri,” The monk said.
“Yes,” I said, I stayed on guard with this monk.
“We decided that Inuyasha would have your bed,” Kagome said.
“Oh, okay,” I said, “Once you’re done eating I will show you to my room.”
Everyone looked up at me.
“I didn’t mean it in a sick way,” I said and waved my hand in front of me.
I stood at the door and waited for Inuyasha to finish eating.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” Shippo asked me.
“I already ate,” I lied.
Tonight we made fish, whenever we made fish I didn’t eat that night. Or I made my own meal.
When Inuyasha finished he handed me the plate.
“So where’s your room?” He asked.
Everyone looked up again.
“Stop it! You know what I mean!” Inuyasha yelled.
I smiled and left the room. Inuyasha followed after me.
“How long have you lived here?’ Inuyasha asked.
“Fifty years,” I said.
“Oh,” He said.
I found this conversation on of the most awkward from every conversation we had in our lives.
“I’m sorry about yelling earlier,” He said.
“It’s okay, Inuyasha,” I said and smiled up at him.
I stood in the door way on my home.
“The bed is already made; please make yourself at home,” I said and left.
“Wait, Eri,” He called to me; I stopped, “Where are you sleeping?”
“How I used to, in the water,” I said and walked to the river.
I sat at the edge of the water and land.
“It’s a beautiful night,” I heard Kagome said.
I looked to my left to see her sitting next to me.
“Kagome,” I said.
“Hey Eri, do you like Inuyasha?” She asked me.
I paused and looked at her.
“Yes, yes I do. Since we were five years old,” I said.
“That’s a very long time, do you know if he feels the same way?” She asked.
“I have no idea, I never had the courage to ask him,” I said.
“Oh,” Kagome said.
I looked into the water. I held out my hand.
“Do you want to see a trick?” I asked.
“Sure, what is it?” Kagome asked.
“You see that fish?” I asked.
The fish was only a few inches from my out stretched hand,
“Yeah,” She said.
I whistled and the fish came over to me. I twirled my hand clockwise and the fish did a flip clockwise and landed in my hand. It didn’t flop around or anything.
“That’s cool,” Kagome said.
I gave her a confused look.
“Oh, sorry, it means that it’s a good thing,” Kagome said.
“Oh,” I replied.
I placed the fish back into water.
“Cool,” I said to myself, “Cool.”
The next day men returned from battle. They gave us saddest looks.
“Lady Eri,” One boy said to me.
“Yes?” I asked.
“I’m sorry to say, but Gaku died,” He said.
I tried my hardest to look sad.
“Who?” Inuyasha asked.
“One of the boys I helped raise, and that proposed to me,” I said, “I knew he was going to die.”
“How?” Sango asked me.
“My father was an air god and my mother was the goddess of the forest,” I said, “But they abandoned me and went off to see a better spouse.”
“I’m sorry,” Shippo said.
“No biggy, I never got to meet them so it doesn’t matter,” I said to Shippo.
“You didn’t?” Shippo asked.
“But how?” Sango asked.
“I can see into the future if I look into a person’s eyes,” I said.
Miroku had a spark in his eyes and said, “Lady Eri, can you see my future?”
“I don’t do it for everyone. Only on special occasions,” I explained to Miroku.
“Come on, make this an occasion,” Miroku whined.
“Fine, take my hand,” I said.
Miroku smiled and gladly took my hand. I looked deep into his eyes. I zoned out.
I saw a man, a dark man.
“So you’ve come, Inuyasha, I’ve been waiting,” He said.
“Naraku!” Inuyasha yelled, at the man now named Naraku.
He came from the shadows, Naraku was a tall man. He had long black hair, down to his waist. The hair wasn’t to well kept. He had devil eyes, but he dressed like he was a lord or something.
I saw Inuyasha charge at the demon with the sword he used on me earlier.
I couldn’t watch any more, I bounced out of Miroku’s future and woke up like it was just a bad dream.
“Well, what did you see?” Sango asked,
“Inuyasha battling a man named Naraku,” I said.
“Naraku?” Kagome asked.
“You saw that in my future?” Miroku asked.
I nodded. The five looked at each other.
I was left out. I wanted to ask questions but I had a feeling telling me not to. I finally couldn’t stand the silence.
“Who is Naraku?” I asked.
They looked at me. I had a feeling a long explanation was going to come.
“Eri, Naraku was the one that tricked Kikyou and I into hate each other,” Inuyasha said.
“What?” I asked.
((Wow sorry this is sooo long...It's about 10 Pages on my word docs... sweatdrop who knew I could write so much for one chapter??))
