I feel like writing...
Most likely random drivel, as always, but writing nonetheless. It'll most likely turn into a rant about something or other, but you've got to laugh haven't you?
I sometimes wonder how some people have the ability to write in such a way, that completely draws a reader in, and doesn't let go. Sometimes, it's not even from the use of brilliant writing skills, but from an amazing imagination. Like, the feeling you get after you finish a great book, and you're left thinking "how did they piece that all together?"
Anyway, that's not realli important, as I'm not planning on writing a novel or anything, but still.
Wow, isn't this an exciting entry?

well, my excitement levels have been raised by 73% in the last 2 minutes, so i would say so.
i don't know what makes for a gripping read... but i think you could write something a bit special yourself if you found the right subject to write about and devoted yourself to it, in much the way such authors do. if course, it's difficult in this day and age, as you need some place where you can be in total tranquillity from life's problems, without any constraints of time or the responsibilities of modern life.
in other words, ideally you need to be unemployed, living in a beautiful idyllic cottage in the countryside, and either married to a very wealthy person or living off of a huge inheritance.
unless, of course, you've already written and sold such a story for enough money to not have to worry about a job, family, etc.
i just don't think you can write something like the lord of the rings, or war and peace, or anything else so spectacular without devoting hundreds, probably thousands of hours to it. and you just can't do that fitted around education, work and/or family. you need to be a bit of a hermit.
if you're wanting to write something great yourself, then i personally would write short stories, even just short anecdotes on life that last no longer than a page or two for now, until things like education, jobs, relationships and things are settled down... and then with the practice you've had on these shorter works you can set about writing that masterpiece. but i reckon 20-ish years old is just to busy and turbulent a period in life to be thinking of writing entire books.
maybe in future, when you're a famous writer, you can sell these earlier short works in an anthology of your earliest scribblings, much like with j.r.r. tolkien's "the adventures of tom bombadil" and such.
anyway, i don't know if any of this is pertinent to you or not, i'm really just thinking outloud and philosophising.
