Ok first post ^^
i'm uber bored so here goes =]
wee story for yas =]
My head is pounding as we sit beneath a lamppost on the curb.
I rub my hands together and slide them back into my jacket pockets,
Trying without success to get some feeling back.
The dim streetlight flickers for a moment or two, and completely goes out.
I squint, trying to see your face in the dark shadows;
you're staring at a rock beneath your feet.
I take in a deep breath and stare up at the stars,
smelling the rain that has settled in the gutters, soaking the fallen leaves.
"Why do things have to change?" I say, letting out a sigh.
Although you know it's a rhetorical question you answer,
"Because I can't do this anymore…. I'm so sorry."
You push yourself off the curb and onto your feet
Holding out your hand to help me up.
You pull me into a hug and lightly kiss my forehead.
A single tear runs down my cheek, getting lost in the fibres of your jacket.
I want to hold on forever…to never let you go.
I look up at the cloudless sky just one more time;
Wishing things could stay this way forever… knowing full well that they can't.
"Goodbye… I'll always love you", you whisper in my ear.
And then you turn to leave.
As you walk away I count the steps that you take, and as my eyes fill with tears you disappear into a smudge of dark mascara and eyeliner.
I fall to the ground and break down into tears.
I had fallen for you so fast.
And as quickly as you had swept me off my feet,
You were gone.
