Chapter 4: The Flute
The Spirit hall was dimly lit but bright, there were millions of portraits there of the founders of the school and of the old headmasters, There was a fireplace burning with blue flames.
"Centaurs, Sphinxes." A group of Boys yelled pointing at the roof, "Mermaids!" Some girls shrieked. Kyoga looked up he couldn't believe what he was seeing; He saw Centaurs, Phoenixes, Dragons, Mermaids, Sphinxes, and Werewolves. Maikeru shuddered when seeing the werewolf,
"What's wrong with you?" Kyoga asked,
"I hate werewolves."
"Why?"
"Because, I'm not very fond of them." He said angrily. A door opened and the Headmaster Raion came and took his seat in the hall. He stood up and raised his hands and everyone went silent.
"Welcome new students to High wind in a short while we will sort you into your teams." Suddenly an instrument fell into a chair.
"This flute will play a tune. The tune will change from your personality" Another Professor walked up and she opened a scroll and said the names. The Professor was very young almost younger then the rest of the staff. She had blue eyes and a witch’s hat with some brown hair coming out of it. “Professor Daniels will start calling names for the sorting.
"Matthew Dover" she called, a short boy with brown hair with dragon wings and a dragon tail walked up and played the instrument, it played a loud high-pitched sound. The flute then spoke and startled him.
"Saru Dorm." The flute said in a high booming voice. Everyone started cheering and Matthew walked to the Saru table.
"Linze Perkins" A normal sized girl walked up she had blonde hair and looked normal.
“I wonder what she is." Maikeru said in Kyoga's ear. She played the flute the tone was less then Matthew's and she was placed in the Kitsune Dorm.
"Amanda Williams." A normal sized girl walked up, she had long black hair and a long leopard tail and leopard ears. She played a small tune and was placed in the Tora Dorm. “Long mitshima." A boy walked up he was mixed he had black hair and a tigers tail and ears and dragon wings. "He's mixed hmm haven't seen many of those." He played a low tune and made it to the Ryuu team.
"Kohamaru Togashi."
"Hey that's the kid we met in the diner."
"Yeah, your right." Kyoga finally said. The boy they met earlier walked up and played a low tune he made it to the Saru Dorm.
"Arayai Takahashi." A girl with long blue hair with blue wolf ears and a blue wolf tail walked up and played the flute.
"Whoa I heard about her family they aren't alive anymore."
"Really what made them so popular?" "They were killed by a stupid Werewolf it wrote in their blood Moon Shadow, I can't stand those abominations!" Maikeru yelled slamming his fist on the table. They were lucky that the crowd was cheering for Arayai getting into the Saru Team they didn't here him hit the table.
"Gado Isawa." A muscular boy with spiky blonde hair walked up to the flute he had lion ears and a lion tail. He played a really low tune and was placed in the Ryuu Dorm. "Wow people told me the tiger team is sometimes always has allot of people." Maikeru explained.
"Shenlong Soma." A short boy walked up and played a squeaked note. His tiger tail swished up from the squeak and he was placed in the Tora Dorm. "Maikeru." She called, Maikeru walked up trying to not look nervous. He played a high note and was placed in the monkey team. "Yugo Yashima." A boy with brown hair and wolf ears and tail walked up and played a high note and was placed in the Saru Dorm. Kyoga felt bad his friend Maikeru was in the Saru dorm and he didn't even know if he would make it. She called
Kenji Kiowa . . . Hikaru Kiowa . . . Thomas Dover . . . Dianna Fletcher . . . Ronald Whitman . . . then finally “Zero.” He looked up and walked to the flute he looked very nervous and the tune sounded like Maikeru’s so he was placed in the Saru Dorm. “Yeah you’re in this dorm too.” Maikeru said happily. “Yeah.” “Ed Arakawa.” “That’s that kid that tried to kill you.” Kyoga started growling, “Yeah that’s him!” “Saru Dorm.” The flute yelled. “Crap he’s in our Dorm, that’s perfect.” Maikeru said sarcastically, Ed walked over to us, “What are you looking at?” He asked angrily. “Nothing.” Maikeru said. Ed walked away from them; Kyoga just stared angrily at him. Professor Daniel’s called the rest of the students. “Now that all students are –“Raion was interrupted by the doors opening and a kid walked through. He had silver hair and gray eyes, he stared at Raion as though he was looking right inside him, he smiled and walked up to the flute. The flute called the Saru dorm and he yelled “My name is Raillen.” He then walked to the table and sat down. “As I was saying, now that all of the students have been sorted we will start with the rules. No one that is not on the 7th floor is allowed to enter the floor or rooms at night and the time to be in your rooms by 11:00. Your class schedules and robes will be on your bed when you get your rooms. Now we can have our feast.” He said the tables began to fill with food; there were many foods, to choose from. The whole hall was filled with everyone talking and eating. By the time they all finished Raion stood again and said the anima will show them to their dormitory rooms. The stairway was covered with pictures of people Kyoga didn’t even know, they stopped in the hallway and everyone found their rooms. “So you’re my roommate.” Maikeru said. “Yeah I guess.” Kyoga said changing into his pajamas and hopping into bed, “We should go to sleep now it’s late.” Kyoga said. They both went to sleep for the next day.
