Doodle symbolised a weak frail boy, with a name like Doodle no one could expect anymore. I belive it also represents determination and struggle.Like how he learns to walk struggle in pain all the way through but becouse he's determined to make hes brother proud he doesn't quit.

The rats in the barn lof sumbolises the dirtyness and abandonedness
