Hello there! If you clicked the link from TwoStar's Faerie Shop, then that means you saw the announcement and was curious. If you just stumbled upon my journal somehow, then you get to see how an artist does work, lol.
I will profile one of the previous chibis I made..your favorite FullMetal Alchemist, Edward Elric ^^
This is the original sketch.
After opening Opencanvas 1.1 (the free version, I know...I can't afford something I have no clue how to use ninja ), I outlined him using my tablet, resulting in this:
After outlining and saving (in case I mess up), coloring starts biggrin
I originally started on his coat, but then switched to doing his hair. It took about two different tries before I finally settled on a hair color close to his original color. I also colored in his eyes, since the color is nearly identical to his hair color.
Next, I finished coloring in his coat, added the lights, and colored in his boots and hair tie. You also see my semi-terrible coloring out of the lines, lol.
Next, I went straight into coloring in his trademark red coat.
I then went into the brooch detail, afterwards adding the sparklies (that's what I call the white dots, lol) to his coat :3
I then moved on to the bucket of milk he's holding with a simple grayscale. It was a little tricky coloring in the cow face on the bucket, but I did it xD
The last thing I wanted to do was skin tone, as that is usually the most difficult to do. Luckily, Edward isn't a tan Alchemist, so a peachy, warm tone was okay. I put in the lights and darks where appropriate, and he's nearly done :3
Lastly, I added in any sparklies and other details necessary, then saved him. This is the final result :3
The total amount of time it took in total, from start to finish coloring was an hour and a half. It's not that long, but it was a little nerve-wracking, as he was only the fourth chibi I colored but the third to draw.
From there, I asked my friend Poe to shrink him for me, since I don't have a proper Photoshop, or even know how to do it. Then, with the sizes she gave me, I fit him accordingly on the premade chibi platform made by TwoStar, and set it up accordingly. Then he was released publicly in the Faerie Shop :3
I hope this entry was a little informative as to how I work with the chibis, and how I color them. Feel free to comment :3
