Ch. 1 Sakae’s jutsu
“I wanna see you do fifty more...” Ayame snickered as she leaned back into the trunk of the oak tree, with a wine glass full of red liquid clasped between her fingers. Sakae chi-yuki glared at her with frustration and slight boredom.

“I’ve done enough to know how to do the damn jutsu now, Ayame.” Sakae growled as she lowered her hands from the tree and ceased to try and take its energy. Ayame mustered a slight smirk and took a small swig from the drink that Sakae suspected was the blood of Ayame’s morning prey.

“No, you haven’t. Or else I wouldn’t have told you to do it again.” Ayame whispered in amusement as she took a few graceful steps to stand behind the raven-haired Sakae. “Try it again; just focus more on the energy of the tree, not your own chakra…” Ayame instructed as she took a precautious step backwards to watch her friend and pupil attempt the new jutsu with more power. Sakae reluctantly forced her hands into the seven necessary hand signs with a roll of her eyes and did as Ayame advised,

“If it gets the cynical sneer off that dumb brunette’s face…” Sakae thought bitterly as she gathered the tree’s energy in place of her own. Sakae’s face lit up immediately with surprise as she felt no need to use her own chakra, for the tree did it for her.

“Ayame...” Sakae whispered in disbelief, Ayame’s grin widened as she watched Sakae’s face while she used the energy of the tree to save her own chakra energy. “I think I just got it!” Sakae noted to Ayame with a wide smile,

“Yes, in fact you did!” Ayame agreed placing a congratulatory hand on a prideful Sakae’s shoulder.

“Well I guess we can call it a day?” Sakae yawned stretching her thin arms into the air. Ayame nodded and gulped the remains of her unknown drink down causing Sakae to involuntarily retch. Ayame smacked her lips and flicked the fragile glass into the tree trunk causing it to shatter.

The two Akatsuki females stalked slowly out from the woods back towards the base in an old, tired-out mountainside. Ayame blinked and looked at Sakae excitedly, Sakae raised her eyebrow, “Yes?” she asked mockingly as Ayame seemed to burst into a fit of anxious shivers,

“So Sakae…” Ayame began as her raven haired comrade listened with slight impatience, “I was thinking we could go out on your first real Akatsuki mission tomorrow if you are feeling up to it…” Sakae’s onyx eyes widened with her smug smirk.

“I think I can find some spare time for it…” Sakae joked as she swung her arms down from holding the back of her neck.

“Good.” Ayame snickered sinisterly, “Can you be ready by dawn?”
