I think the name pretty much covers it all.
Entry the Seventh.
THE [MIS?]ADVENTURES OF ME AT MY FIRST CON EVER--KUNICON ST. LOUIS!!!!

It was finally Friday. School had just got out, and Kunicon was on my mind. My mom said she'd drive anyone downtown to the con--provided that they could get to my house on their own. I had tried to smuggle my friend--Deliscious Milkshake--onto my bus, so he could get a ride with me, but the busdrivers, and principal wouldn't allow it.

I sat around with my friends on the bus, Conenz, who wouldn't be able to join me, and an aqquaintance--H***, who couldn't go, but gave me a bag of money and told me to load her up with Pockey, Ramune soda, and however many various anime items I could buy with what she had given me. We talked. It was cool. I wouldn't see Conenz all that weekend, which was depressing... but I'd get her soveniers, an autograph from Vic Mignona (signing as Ed Elric), and had promised to enter in the ramen noodle eating contest for her.

I got home, and to my suprise, our old neighbors accross the street with 10 kids who had moved to Poland to start a church were here to visit. Well, 3 of the elder kids anyway... But they weren't there for long.
So anyway, I had to make plans for getting people down there... and I got to work.

LET ME TELL YOU... I COULD WRITE A FREAKING NOVEL ABOUT THE WHOLE TRANSPORTATION ORDEAL, which went on for at least an hour or so, complete with all the elements of a plot. Intro, leading events, a climax, solution... which still wasn't even truely solved 'till THAT NIGHT... AFTER THE FIRST DAY'S EVENTS WERE OVER. I'm serious, we touched on so many possibilities for getting people over here... getting people over there, downtown... we even considered taxis at one point... I'm not going to go into it, cause it'd be a whole 'nother entry.

Anyway, I got down there in one piece with my friends Ichigo-Berry!, Abunai, Deliscious Milkshake, and my sister to acompany me. And met up with Dr. Octagon, and I think that was all, on the first day at least.
It was great. We went to register, and saw Vash run by, acompanied by a Moogle cosplayer... the best part of that was when we turned around to see, standing behind us waiting to register, Samara (or Sadako) from The Ring. You have no idea how freaky, and awesome that was. I complimented the girl and told her of her awesomeness, and took a picture. She was really cooperative, and I think one of us asked her how well she could see out of her hair, and we had a nice chat about that. 3nodding

After hyperventalating in the lobby, we went on to THE ACTUAL CON. It was glorious. There was a gaming room, a music gaming room--complete with DDR, Taiko: drum master (Taiko no Tatsujin), Donkey Konga, and Karaoke Revolution. And a LAN gaming room as well.

That night, we didn't go to many events, becuase we were worn out, and lazy... and busy shopping. But we caught "Who's Line is it Anime?" with the voice actors (who consisted of:Chris Patton, Doug Smith, Scott McNeil, Vic Mignona, Richard Epcar, and a girl, who I think was Trish Ledoux[works at VIZ, editor of Animerica]) WOW. It was so fun. This is my illustration of what happened (in short):

There were many other guests... including Team Ryouko (martial artists), the Robotech crew, and--for some reason-- David Carradine (Bill, in "Kill Bill" wink and some others who I don't remember, and if I ever do remember, I will add them in. 3nodding

Now, after "Who's Line is it Anime?" my friends and I got a chance to talk with Scott McNeil (Duo Maxwell, Piccallo, Kouga from Inuyasha...) and the one guy who does Sasame's voice in Pretear. Anyway, I have become an official Scott McNeil fangirl. Ichigo-Berry and Abunai had him say things in Kouga's voice like "I love you..." and "Will you be my mate..." etc.
I didn't know much about many of the characters he'd played, but it didn't matter, because I loved him anyway. whee He was great, he really loves his fans... he likes the attention, and he will gladly do practically anything for them. (Well...) He kissed me on the head~! whee I'm happeh. Of course, Ichigo-Berry and Abunai got kisses on the cheek, and shoulder... random stuff like that... but I don't care. I'm content. xp YOU HERE ME?? YOU GUYS SUCK!!!

I'm kidding, I love you to death.

And the guy's funny as crap, man! I love him. He was signing my box of Pockey and he asked me "Have a favorite anime?" I paused, then asked "One with you in it?" and he said "Whatever... one with, one without... have a favorite?" I told him, "Yeah, actually... uh, Yugioh."
"Hmm," he said. "Never seen it. Don't know what it's about. But it sure is fun to say!!" Then he started talking about pronouncing "Fushigi Yugi" and about how when he writes the word "banana" he wants to just keep on going and never stop.

bananananananananananananananana---sorry, I had to try it. sweatdrop

Then he signs my sisters Pockey box, and asks her the same. She says, "Yeah.. I like Yugioh." So, Scott goes, "Hmm, I'm sensing a pattern here..." and looks down to continue signing her Pockey box. He started saying what he was (pretending) to write, "Dear, J****... Yu-Gi-Oh sucks... love... Scott..."
Hahaha, oh, it was funny.

Hmm, and now, I've had this entry in progress for like, a month, and I don't remember what all I was planning on typing, but I'll go with it.

Later on, we entered the cosplay contest. If I hadn't already mentioned, this is what we cosplayed:

Ichigo-Berry: Ichigo Momomiya (Tokyo Mew Mew)

Me: A really crappy last second pathetic excuse for Marik Ishtar (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

My sister: Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Abunai: Herself, decked out in any anime clothing available (Real-Life/ Existence)

Deliscious Milkshake: Himself, though he almost used my pathetic Emi (from DDR) outfit that I used when our school had a DDR Coronation. (Real-Life/ Existence)

Moving on; Ichigo-Berry and I entered the contest. Her--because she actually wanted to compete, and me--to keep her company, I suppose. My sis was urged to participate, but she's really shy, and wouldn't. Which I don't blame her for, because it was set up and designed to be like a catwalk at a fashion show. Yes, with the pose-striking, and camra flashing, and all that good stuff that goes on in such instances.

Myself, I'm kinda shy, which you could tell if you saw me get up there and try to pose. But anyway, I think that the best part of the contest was the hour we had to wait in a small, concrete, sort of backway type thing against a brick wall, lined up sitting next to each other, before the show started. I'm dead serious. It was exciting. They led all the participants to the back area thing just described in bold, and said, "Well guys, we have to get ready for the show, so you guys can stay back here 'till we're ready for you... Hmm, and it looks like you'll be here for about an hour at least, so feel free to sit down, kick back, and get really aquainted with the person next to you for awhile."

Ichigo and I sat down, talked, made aquaintances with a Chun Li cosplayer next to us, and chatted a bit with the Ranma cosplayer girl who we had met earlier in the day, and discussed bishies and other such things with. I thought she was really cool; very funny person. She was talking about how she was thinking about going out on stage, and having her friend (a Kagome cosplayer, I think) throw a cup of water on her, so she can then rip her shirt open and expose her womanlyness. (SHE WAS WEARING A SHIRT UNDERNEATH!! scream SHUT UP!)
Towards when it was comming the time for her to go out, she couldn't find her Kagome friend, and started calling, "Kagome!" Then, the crowd of waiting cosplayers all started calling back, "Inuyasha!". Ichigo and I laughed, immideatly catching on to what was happening. "KAGOME!" yelled the Ranma girl again. "INUYAHAAAA~!" the crowd called back. It was great. ^________________________^-

Then there was Piano Squall. He's a Sguall-cosplaying pianist who arranges, composes, and performs various video game and anime musics. He was really talented, and as a fellow pianist/otaku, I highly respect him. ('Course I'd respect him either way...) He performs for free too. I think he even does some charity things, but I could be wrong. To support him, he sold posters, and I bought one, and he signed them. He was really nice. Later on that day, Deliscious Milkshake got to play DDR with him. ((I'm so jealous!! xp )) and he's not half bad at DDR either!

As well, on the first night (a day or so before he was scheduled to perform) he was playing the piano in the lobby. Waiting to be picked up on the first night, we listened to him play, and took pictures. Ichigo-Berry is a huge Squall fan, and I took her picture with him, sitting at the piano. When that was done, and she got up, he turned to the piano and played the FF7 battle victory music jingle. Da-da-da-da Dah Dah, Da! da-DAH~! It was awesome. whee *spaz*

Then there was this creepy stalker Squal wanna-be... who kissed Ichigo on the shoulder when he first just barely met her... and we told Scott McNeil about it, and he goes, "Where is he? I'll beat him up!! ..... wait--first, how big was he?"
We tried to avoid this guy the whole con, but that didn't always work. At one point, Ichigo-Berry and Abunai decided they were going to pretend to be lesbians, but I'm not going to get into that whole story. eek sweatdrop

There was also the band "10-Sheen" there. They were both talented and obnoxious. It was ...uh... an interesting... experience. But they were nice though. And there was this Kurama that I kept trying to take pictures of, because he was just... totally getting his groove thing on, or something... *shakes head to snap herself out of a world of dancing Kuramas* Ahem...

There was also this Darth Vader cosplayer. I don't know what that was all about, but it was cool.

Well, I can't think of anything for now, which is probably for the best, because if I could think of everything right now, this entry would never end.

We met voice actors, we played DDR, we bought plenty of anime products and Japanese snacks, we saw some talented people, frolliced amoung a sea of otaku, ate lots of ramen, and Deliscious Milkshake had gotten his GBA SP signed by Davide Carradine. In short, Kunicon was a great experience for me, as my first con, and I'll be looking forward to their return next year~! heart
