Find the Inner You
By: Lizzie Wickstrom + Amy Randall ()
“Mommy, I want to be a gymnast!” said little 9 year old Natasha. “Well, honey, to be a gymnast, you need to be able to focus, and you must be determined to do this,” her mom replied. “I can be all that, and I am flexible! Watch me do a cartwheel!” Natasha replied. “Honey! Not in the---“ CRASH! Her mother was interrupted by the sound of her daughter slamming against the floor cabinet. “OWWWWWWWW!” screamed Natasha. “Honey, you need to be careful!” her mother replied to her daughters ear-pinching scream. “ I guess if you really want to do this, I will sign you up,” her mother relunctanly said. “Thank you mommy! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!” Natasha eagerly replied.
Later that night, Natasha’s mom, Georgia, called the gymnastics and cheerleading center. They said they had an opening, but only in the water gymnastics. She decided that she would let her daughter choose, and that she would call back tomorrow.
“Natasha! Come here, honey,” Georgia yelled to her daughter. “Yah mom?” asked Natasha. “I called the gymnastics center…” her voice drifted off. “And?” Natasha asked. “They have an opening…but,” her voice drifted again. “But?” Natasha was getting frustrated with her mother’s choice of speech. “But, it is only an opening in water gymnastics,” her mom replied. “Water gymnastics? What’s that?” Natasha may be 9, but she doesn’t know everything. “It’s gymnastics…in the water…” her mom replied.
