I just wanna make sure everyone knows this is a SPOILER before I continue.
So, I was thinking about the whole Tobi situation. Out of COMPLETELY nowhere, we find out that little innocent Tobi is actually an Uchiha who is commanding Akatsuki. Whether he is paying Akatsuki or if they're simply cooperating with each other is unknown.
The mystery I wondered about was the strange spiral mask. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but this mask covers his entire face except for his right eye. But why would an Uchiha cover one of his eyes? This started me thinking. Only his right eye is visible, is it possible he doesn't have a left eye? So then I thought maybe he isn't an Uchiha, just like Kakashi. Now THAT'S where my imagination runs away with me. Kakashi got his left eye from Obito, so that left Obito's right eye. In other words, Tobi only shows his right eye, and Obito's right eye was all he had left in the Kakashi Gaiden. So I tried to figure out if there was any connection between Tobi and Obito, that was when I noticed the similarity in their names. Rearrange the letters in Obito and you get Tobi, although you have an O left over. Of course, the way Tobi spoke was as if he was a true Uchiha. If it weren't for that left over O, I could support the theory that Tobi is somehow connected to Obito, possibly even the same person, even though we believe Obito was crushed to death.
So what does everyone think?

Heh.
it is the most common theory, though, and the one that seems to hold the most evidence. It's the one I hold true to, and kind of hope for.

Well, my theory is pretty unique I think..
Asides from the Akatsuki cloak, the only visible halmark of Tobi's outfit is the mask, an orange spiral. Where else have we seen an orange spiral? On Naruto's old outfit! The spiral is even refered to as Naruto's "symbol." There are more shocking similarities between the two.
-They both have carefree and childish personalities.
-They both harbor a sinister chakra within them (Kyuubi vs Uchiha Madara)
-They were both picked on by their peers.
-Neither one was considered to have much talent amongst their group.
-Their hairstyles are identical except for the color.
If the Tobi/Obito theory is true, then more coincidences come to light.
-Before he got his leaf band, Naruto wore goggles. So did Obito!
-Constant paralels are drawn between Team 7 and Kakashi's team. In them, Naruto and Obito play the same part.
I know Naruto and Tobi aren't related or anything like that, but I think Kishimoto is going to draw a conection between them similar to the conection between Naruto and Gaara. I think this theorectical 'connection' is going to be a major point later on in the manga, just wait and see!
And, as always, Tobi is a good boy.

I'm not sure if Tobi's true personality is what he was like with Deidara. He pretended to be a weakling who always ran away from a fight, when in reality he's an Uchiha who is probably stronger than Sasuke. Besides that, the way he acted in front of Pain is entirely different from how he acted when he was with Zetsu and Deidara.
As for the similarities between Naruto and Obito, I don't think there's any relationship between them, I think they were placed so Kakashi would show more affection toward Naruto.

True, but Naruto means Spiral, which is why there's alot of spirals through-out the series. If you recall, to learn the Rasengan, he had a Spiral drawn on his hand.
Kishimoto just likes Spirals. Either that or it's just a Japanese "inside joke."

Uzumaki refers to a tree-dimensional spiral, much like a vortex.

Yeah lol...last i checked Naruto was fish paste or something really odd and rediculous to be named after...as are much of the characters in the series.
Also...I hope and believe in the Obito/Tobi theory to be true. why? It would make a great way for kakashi to be killed, which i also believe is becoming inevitable, Hes getting old...very old...and hes not as strong as he was in the beginning of the series already. Would also give Naruto a great motivation to demolish akatsuki completely beings at the moment he just wants to screw up Itachi in hopes of getting sasuke to give up and come back... *shrug*

Well, anything that will end up giving Tobi more screen time and leading to Kakashi's death is perfectly fine with me.

Let's assume it's Tobi and that Kakashi dies...So then...Sasuke's team and Naruto(maybe even Sakura and Sai) TEAM UP to destroy Akatsuki. Oh man, if this happens, I'm giving myself a gold star.

What if like akatsuki, narutos team, and sasukes team all end up confronting at the same time and it turns into a 3 way brawl, one of the akatsuki tries to kill sasuke and kakashi, still showing compassion for his old student, jumps in the way of the attack getting himself killed in the process. this gets sasuke full of emotions and ready for vengence and he turns to naruto and suggests working together again beings its not just about his brother anymore. then the battle which akatsuki had been winning suddenly moves into a downfall. Then Tobi comes into the picture and begins beating the hell out of everybody upon where sasuke goes CS2 using his most powerful fire jutsu and naruto goes 3 tailed kyuubi while using the fuuton rasengan and boom...fried tobi!
More likely scenario...upon kakashi's death naruto loses all control similar to when he thought sasuke died, and ends up going 5+ tailed kyuubi. In his beserkened state he attacks friend and foe but with the power of the sharingan sasuke manages to revert sasuke only to find that naruto had killed sakura (that part just cause i hate sakura and she diserves to die, even though shes not useless anymore shes still a b***h and what not.)
I can't see Sai risking his life to help out naruto and sasuke over their goal though...He just doesn't seem that attached to the group. Sakura possibly because of the strong bonds of team 7. Naruto and Sasuke would be a definite yes.
