Slender ears lazily turned to random directions every so often, attentive to the sounds around their grazing owner. Her translucent wings stayed up and open, unable to fold them like the other breeds were. She flicked her medium-length tail, shooing away the flies that insisted on buzzing about her. She raised her head and tossed her mane, wondering why it always had to get in the way whenever she grazed. With an equine shrug the mare lowered her muzzle to taste the sweet grasses of D'ob, ignoring the mane and forelock that sprung forward to block the rest of the world from her sight.
She lifted her head again, not bothering to fix the long strands of annoying hair she dubbed her mane, and stared up at the twilight sky. The sun had disappeared behind the horizon by now, but its colors were still painting the sky with a beautiful mixture of pinks, oranges, yellows, and some reds. With a contented sigh, the small Bae lowered her muzzle once more to continue her grazing.

Ah, the sun once again touched the filly's velvet nose, the warmth tickling her hide to the point she almost sneezed. Hmm, what was this? A breeze? Pricking her ears, the paintaloosa filly glanced around her, ice blue eyes picking up most everything that caught her interest. Which of course, was everything and nothing all at once. With a sigh her thin sides rose and fell, there had to be something to do here. Absolutely something! She didn't wander away from the weird two-legged creatures for nothing. With a bit of a pout forming on her maw the filly turned to her companion, which wasn't much smaller then herself. "Scaaaaab-bers... I'm bored", she spoke rather matter of factly, flicking that stub of a tail of hers. The little Zrun hadn't a clue just how he had been roped into baby-sitting duty, but he realized if left alone... well, the filly could possibly get herself into trouble. With a soft snort the little creature glanced over to the filly from where he lay down, head lazily resting on his cloven front hooves. "Mec, I've told you already. If you're bored count to fifty and then look around. Something magical will happen." There, that ought to hold her.

The small Bae mare's ears flicked towards the voices, and she raised her head once more, shaking the long strands of hair out of her face to get a more clear view of the world. Her bright yellow eyes scanned the area, and she noticed a small Jala foal along with a brown... A brown... something, with pale horns on its head. A mutated Ichsa or Reya, mayhaps? No, no, definitely not. She fluttered her translucent yellow wings, and set off at an even pace towards the pair. As she got closer she noticed that the brown thing wasn't a nequus at all, but some other sort of creature. A Zrun, if she remembered correctly. She hadn't seen one of those in a while.
She flicked her yellow tail, ears perked forward, and stopped her quiet hooves a comfortable distance away. "Good ev'nin'," she called out to the pair, studying them both with interest, "What brings a pair like yerselves out s' late t'night?" She didn't rightly know when Zruns were usually awake, but foals should be asleep by this hour, shouldn't they? She thought so, though it was hard to tell. Perhaps her parents and the foal walked at night and slept during the day? Possibly, but she thought most families were awake during the day. Oh well.

Mecriana wasn't quite sure what to make of that everytime he said it, but if he said something magical would happen... well she believed him full-heartedly. With a huff, the foal closed her eyes and tried to concentrate, her ears set back in full attention. "1... 2... 5... 11- Scabbers, what comes after 11?" she asked, very carefully peaking from the corner of her eyes.
"No peaking!" the Zrun spoke quickly, having kept a good eye on the filly as she did so. Humph, cheat in one of his games, he didn't think so! Though with a snort he responded. "12, Mec. 12 comes after 11." He didn't even bother to correct the rest of her numbers. He'd be here all night if he did.
Oh, 12 came after 11? Man, she hoped there weren't many more numbers after this one, she was eager to see what happened. "12... 67... 8- huh?" Slightly confused by a new voice the foal just shook her head. "Evening ma'am, hold on. Scabbers said something magical will happen if I count to fifty. 8... 12...37... 49... 50! Ha! 50!" she said delight, opening her eyes to find another nequus near by. "It is magic! Wow, hello ma'am." She seemed to completely over look the bae's question, but that was just Mec.
The Zrun absolutely could not believe this. She honestly- no, no, he wasn't going to think to much on this. Especially with Mec as the subject. However, he was put at a slight guard as he had watched the other Nequus approach. Was she friendly? Obviously enough. But that didn't stop the creature from keeping a good eye on her; for Mec's sake.

She watched their little game with a grin; how adorable foals were, and thankfully the valley was full of them that she could watch. Always so cute, in her opinion. When Mec told her to hold on, she merely chuckled and bobbed her head. "All right."
She chuckled again when the little filly finally got to 50 after skipping quite a few numbers and putting the rest out of order. "Hey there, suga'. That's some good magic yeh got there. What's yer name, sweetie, and the name of yer friend? Mine's Elsie," she offered after a momentary pause, dipping her muzzle in greeting. My, my, this pair certainly was entertaining, the filly especially. Hopefully she would learn how to count relatively soon. But then again, how many times could something pass for being magic every time she finished counting to 50? Not a lot, she supposed.
She smiled, ears perked, and flicked her tail. "What're yeh two doin' out s' late t'night? Shouldn' you two be asleep? It's a bit late for a li'l filly and her friend t' be out, the sun's already down."

Now fully aware of the Bae mare infront of her, which she liked to call a giant, the filly wiggled her tail in antcipation. Well, most adults were giants to her anyway. But even better, she was magic! Thanks to Scabbers she could do tricks just like she had just done here. Hehe, this was awesome. "I know, its so much fun. You should learn to do magic too Miss Elsie, Scabbers here can teach you! Go on Scabbers, tell Miss Elsie how to do magic!" Oh yes, she was hyped up and ready to go now.
The Zrun gave a loud clearing of his throat, slightly embarrised on how the filly was acting. But that was to be expected, what without her parents to teach her anything. A few days ago he had decided, after she nearly got herself into trouble with a rather large stallion, that he would try his best to keep her out of trouble. "Evening. As Mec here said I'm Scabbers. This here is Mecriana. And uh..." he paused slightly, glancing at the Jala foal. "Mec, I don't think she wants to learn how to do magic." Yeah, he was pretty sure this bae could count to fifty pretty easily.
"Oh... well okay. I still like magic though", she said with an affimative nod of her head; ice blue eyes looking up to the mare. "Me and Scabbers here were trying to find a place to sleep. But I'm not tired. Are you tired Miss Elsie?" she asked, curious now that it had been brought up.

She chuckled, clearly enjoying the filly's exuberance and energy. Where the foals could find so much boundless, endless energy, she'd like to know. "Magic is wond'ful, sweetie, but ah'll leave th' magic-doin' t' yeh, if yeh dun mind," she said with a bob of her dark gray head.
"It's a pleasure meetin' yeh both t'night. There's lotsa places t' sleep aroun' here, suga', but it seems t' me yer not tired in th' least, are yeh?" She could tell if the filly tried to sleep now she wouldn't succumb to sleep until after dawn, in all probability. Such adorable things foals were.
"If yer not tired, sweetie, how about y'all go fer a nice walk wi' me aroun' the valley?" A walk might be good for this little filly, it might tire her out a bit. She might end up staying up all night and sleeping all day, if not. "Or how about a good run? It seems like yeh aren't tired at all, in my opinion." A run would be better, she supposed. Either Scabbers could stay there, or run with them, or maybe even ride on her back. The latter option didn't sound too appealing, however.

The filly, still excited from her little magic trick, was about to agree full-heartedly to the walk, when the deal seemed to have gotten much better. Quite visably her little wings fluttered open, unable to control themselves. "Oooooh a run would be absolutely awesome, Miss Elsie! Come on Scabbers, she said we could run!" she spoke, tossing her tiny head upwards.
The Zrun could not believe his ears, and turned a practically wide-eyed stare towards the bae. Was she insane?! Oh... yipes, and now Mec was going to drag him into it too. Oh no, he's tried running after the filly before, and she was simply too much for the little creature to handle. "Um, tell you what Mec. You can go run with Miss Elsie, and I'll pick a good place to sleep tonight. Deal?" He certainly hoped so. But that didn't stop the creature from turning a warning glance to the mare. She seemed nice, but he would like to keep a good eye on the filly.
Well, that sounded okay to the filly, so she gave a quick bob of her head. "Deal. Don't worry Scabbers, I'll run fast enough for the both of us", she grinned.

The small mare tossed her head, a grin on her muzzle. "Wond'ful!" A good run was always nice, especially so with company. Plus, hopefully a good run would tire the little filly out for her friend, that would be a bonus, and it was the small mare's intent. Also, a run would hopefully release some of her energy too, and help her sleep better. "Perhaps a good run will tire yeh out, too," she said, mostly for Scabbers than for the filly.
"After yeh, then!" The Bae said, tossing her mane to the other side of her neck, gaining a clearer view of the darkening world as her forelock was also tossed aside, out of her yellow eyes. Let the filly start the pace, and she would match it. Hopefully the filly would be tired soon, then they could return to her friend and then Mecriana would sleep well, and maybe the mare herself would, too. Elsie figured that Scabbers would appreciate it if the filly were able to sleep tonight.

Mec couldn't help but plaster a grin on to her muzzle, flicking it back towards the Zrun as her little tail seemed to wag back and fourth. "Bye Scabbers! I'll be back soon", she spoke in near glee, ready to take off after she got her hooves set up and ready to go. Such odd things her legs were, and she couldn't quite get them to work half the time. Rossing her head up like she had seen the mare do earlier, she attempted to copy the movement of the mane; but her's wasn't quite as long. With a final whinny the filly went galloping off in a random direction.
Well, there was no stopping it now, and Scabbers wasn't too keen on chasing after her. With a sigh he nodded his head and slowly got up from where he lay. He needed to find somewhere relatively safe to sleep before they came back.

"Yeah, bye Scabbers," she said with a smile. It was only polite to say good-bye, after all. Before she could even look back to the filly she was off like a rocket, eliciting a chuckle from the mare. Goodness! She was certainly a sprightly little thing, but nothing the Bae couldn't keep up with. The filly would, in all probability, be faster than she when she was fully grown, which brought a smile to the mare's muzzle.
She flicked her tail and galloped off after the filly, gaining on her fairly quickly. Once just behind her, she switched to a canter to keep up with her. After a moment or two the mare came up alongside the filly, watching her with a grin. "Yer a wond'ful runner, Mec! Ah've never seen a faster filly than yeh are." Yes, she was a wonderful runner, but how long would she be able to keep up her killer sprinting? Hopefully not very long. The Bae's stamina, thankfully, was better even than her speed, so she was able to keep going for very long periods of time if necessary. And, she thought to herself, tonight, it might be necessary. Hopefully not, though. Foals ran out of energy eventually, right?

The Paintaloosa filly could feel the wind rush past her as her lengthy legs carried her forward against the wind. Against all odds she had come to think! Oh wounderful, Miss Elsie had caught up! That brought a wide grin to the filly's maw as she continued with her 'death defying' sprint so she had come to think.
Though at the mention of running she bobbed her head in mid stride, which did happen to throw her off slightly, but Mec just kept on running. 'I'm really fast aren't I Miss Elsie? I feel like I keep running forever and ever and ever! Not gonna stop. Not tired. Nope-" and as luck would have it she had sudenly cut her stride in nearly half, quickly coming to a slower pace by the second. Oh man, she was really tired now. Hmm, well, that didn't stop her from trying to keep up with the bae mare as she strained to keep her strides up.

"Yeah, yer super fast, sweetie!" She said with a grin and a chuckle, continuing at her easy canter beside the filly. And then, suddenly, the filly slowed, so the bae cut back her pace to come beside the filly again. Oh, good, she was getting tired already. That certainly simplified matters considerably.
She looked at the filly, ears perked, and nipped at the ends of the small Jala's mane carefully to get her attention. "How 'bout we head back t' yer friend Scabbers now? Yeh can tell him all about yer run and how fast yeh go," she offered, motioning with her muzzle towards where they had so recently left. With any luck, the little foal would become even more tired from the return journey and would sleep well tonight. As for the Bae, well, she would sleep a little better tonight hopefully. It was always good to stretch one's legs, she always thought. That, and exercise right before sleep was a sure-fire way to sleep better. It always worked for her, anyway.

Well that certainly sounded good to the filly right now, after that run... well she was just really tired. But then again, her moods came and went like nothing else, so knowing her she'd be hyper once again if she became bored. "Scabbers would love to know how fast I am, and I told him I'd run fast enough for the both of us too", she grinned up at the mare, her little ears twitching.
Though, it was at the nipping of her mane that she suddenly gave a tiny leap of surprise, before glancing up at the mare's own mane. Hmm, she might be able to catch it, but then again it just might be too high for her as well. That wouldn't stop her from trying though. Oh no. The filly tried to get as close to the mare as possible, but actually catching the bits of mane was her problem. Ack! It kept moving just out of reach of her teeth.

"Yeh ran faster than enough for both of yeh," she said, hoping the filly would see it as the compliment she meant it to be. "Yeh can tell him all about it."
However, it was at the attempted nipping of her mane that brought an idea to the mare's head. She lowered her head a bit so the filly would be able to reach it, but then she subtly changed where she was running to, attempting to lead the filly in a semicircle that would point them towards her little friend once more. Once they were headed in the right direction, the mare allowed her mane to be within reach of the little filly. It was only fair, after all. "We're almost t' yer little friend!" She said; she didn't know if Mec would be able to tell or not, she might be concentrating too hard on catching the larger nequus' mane, but if she didn't notice then at least now she would know.
