The tears of heaven rain down upon the Earth, soaking the land with a steady downpour. All the sadness, all the woe, of those Higher Beings is transformed into water droplets and falls from the sky in random patterns. Small woodland creatures run for cover, birds settle down in their nests to wait until the rainclouds have passed. There is a silence beneath the pounding of rain upon tree and rock.

Evelyn stood in the middle of a large meadow, her veiled gaze turned upwards. Her soft ears were perked towards the sky as she listened for things only she could hear. Droplets formed on the very tips of her ears, falling every once in a while when they became large enough. The delicately-boned mare was entirely soaked, her hair laying plastered against her neck. In all rights, she should have been shivering... but she was not. She was just staring upwards, blinking every once in a while to clear the water from her eyelashes. Just... staring.

The search for his son was strong but it appeared as though the rain was stronger. A certain dark, spunky and ignorant stallion had planned on returning to the lands wanting to talk to the only stallion that shared his blood but he couldn't do it because of the rain.

Rain. Water. He hated it all! Such annoyance! It ruined his perfect braides and his coat developed a certain shine that would also be ruined if water had touched it.

So the stallion had stayed safely in a cave, waiting out the storm. But Soqui's memories still lingered in his thoughts. He wanted to talk to his only son, he wanted to be there for him like any normal father should be. He was already there for his daughter but what about Soqui?

Bliss too just stood there and stared, at the ugly rain...and the soaking wet groud. Just let a sparkle of something purple caught his attention.

Purple! The only thing that the stallion had ever said he loved was the color purple and there it was, in the rain. The temptation was too strong, but in the end the color one. He took off running in it's direction, not caring that his once perfect mane now stuck glued to his coat.

The sound of pounding hooves reached the ears of the mare. What would normally be a steady rhythm of hoof beats was marred slightly by the wet ground, but it was still loud enough for Evelyn to hear above the roar of the steady rain. One ear twitched slightly and swiveled towards the sound, her body reacting to the noise before her mind had fully retreated from the daydream.

Her head turned, the veiled purple gaze now on the blurred form of a stallion running towards her. She blinked, not quite sure of what she was seeing... no, this was real. But what was really real? How could one tell, when the entire world was... The mare shook her head, sending a spray of droplets flying into the air. Now was not the time for wandering thoughts!

"Hello?" She called out, raising one front leg at a bent angle and cocking her head to one side.

With every step he got closer, the figure was more noticable. Standing before him was a pretty grey mare. But where was the purple he saw? His own beautifully colored eyes searched and searched until he wasn't that far from her and heard her voice.

"Hello!" The stallion called back, eyes still glued to see if there was purple...there! Her necklace shown purple and it was beautiful. He had yet to see her eyes...

"It's raining and I saw your purple necklace, uh...what are you doing out in the rain?" Bliss said quickly, trying hard to catch his breath. Running was one thing, but running in something like the rain was another. It made him feeel wet (obviously) and sticky. Plus his already large body felt heavily weighed on the ground.

Her head drew back and she blinked, confronted by what she thought to be an odd question indeed. "... I am in the rain because this is where I am. Were I elsewhere, it is true that I might still be in the rain..." she peered out at the sky, and at what seemed to be an endless stretch of clouds that bore heavy rain "... but then I would not be here with you." She smiled as though she had spoken the clearest words in the world, though they were quite head-spinning even for the one who had written them.

She glanced down at her necklace; the only purple on it were the brightly-flashing jewels that held shining light imprisoned in their perfect depths. This stallion's eyes were good indeed that he could see such a small bit of purple amidst the rain... that, or he simply knew what he was looking for, and did not waste time on anything else.

The mare peered into his eyes, locking his gaze with her own. "You came galloping into the pouring rain only because you saw a bit of purple?" Was he crossed with some form of purple-loving magpie?

Wait...what?

He stared at her with the biggest confused face he had ever given anyone before, and started to laugh under his breath. Was she speaking English correctly? Or was this mare just too smart for her own good. To make a sentence like that took a lot of brain power. And not Bairn-brain power. More.

The goofy stallion gave the pretty grey mare a smile. "Ah, yes. That would be a shame. Not being here with me because I am told to be fun." Bliss nodded his head quickly, using his own words to the best of his own power in a way to impress her.

"And well yeah." The stallion nodded again, feeling rather foolish by the way she worded it. Was it so awful to freak out every single time he saw the color purple since it was so rare? And that his own children's eyes were both purple? And his? And...hers? "You have pur-beautiful eyes!" Bliss stammered, catching himself before he said the word again. "I was looking for someone yes, but I do love the color you wear so perfectly!"

Modest? Whereas most stallions would have stated that they were able to provide pleasurable company with a wink, he had only said that he was fun to be around because others had told him so. Evelyn peered at Bliss curiously, attempting to solve the puzzle that he presented... although... it was not so much a puzzle as a jumble of straight-edged squares.

Her head tilted as she processed the compliment, a faint rose-hued tint appearing on her cheeks that was a fine example of a blush. She looked away, attempting to hide her pleasure at the comment. She had pur-beautiful eyes!

"When the color itself is utter perfection, the praise should not lay upon the one who had the pleasure of wearing the color rather the color itself." ... Incomprehensible speech? A habit of hers.

The stallion had stared right back at her, with just as big a curious expression, if not bigger. This mare was so different, not like every mare was the same, of course, but this one just seemed so...out there! First off, she hadn't spoken to him but just stared-which was something he normally did.

But Bliss didn't think too much on the subject. A mare was afterall, a mare...as he had learned over the years, and they were all similiar when it came to things like...stallions. A fancy grin was plastered on his face as he spotted her blushing face just before she hid it, yay! He had made her blush, that was always a very good sign.

Uh...uh...uh...The dark, ignorant stallion stared at her even longer with the curious expression changing to a more blank one. What had she just said? Something about a color, but which one? And why? "I like purple." He said simply, hoping that was a good enough response.

The hint of a smile blossomed into a grin, though that blossom soon lost it's petals and her lips fell again into a serene neutral position. Even so, the amusement it had hinted at was still present.

It had been quite obvious to her that he liked purple; after all, he had just cantered off into the pouring rain just because his magpie's-eye had caught something that was purple. However, the simply response held a certain charm... she had never been quite able to state her feelings simply. When thoughts came to her from some distant void, they were always swirled into a stew that she had to pick through quite thoroughly before it would make any sense at all.

"I like purple, too." Sure, she was parroting his words... but doing such was easier then figuring out how to covey to this stallion that she agreed with him... she'd probably have ended up confusing him, had she tried.

It wasn't as if he new exactly, how strange his own speaking was to this mare or perhaps to anyone for that matter. The dark stallion usually just said directly what was on his mind, regardless of what it was being said. So saying something as simple as that was just as easy as walking.

Bliss grinned at the mare, happy to hear what he had. So there was another soquili out there who apprechiated the color, no?! If only Vanilla Swirl was with him now, since she wasn't terribly fond of her light colored eyes, just like her Daddy's. She'd probably laugh at Evelyn, and comment about how the color purple was so overrated. Ah, why did his daughter have to be so difficult?

And was his son the same? He needed to find that stallion, and talk with him. Or even just glance at him, that little boy who looked so much like Bliss...

"I'm sorry for just coming up on you, anything purple attracts my eyes lately, since I'm looking for my son. I haven't seen him since he was a colt." Those words slipped off his tongue easier than ever before-almost as if he finally accepted the fact that he was a father. Perhaps those weren't the best things to say to a mare you had just met, but Bliss didn't care. If she had seen Soqui, that was all the better.

"He looks just like me, but with curly hair and a bit of rainbow colors in it, and his eyes are more of a darker purple."

So this magpie's attraction to the color purple ran deeper than any passing obsession. It held the pull of family.

She couldn't help but feel a slight pang in her heart. She had never even had family enough to loose. She was always alone. Not that it mattered much, for the amount of time she spent off in her daydreams... but it would be nice to have someone to come back to.

She could not imagine what he was feeling, having lost a loved one... to know that your own flesh and blood is somewhere out there, but to not even know if that one is alive or injured, to not be able to take any part in their life... it would be horrible.

"I am afraid that I have seen no stallions of that description..." her eyes conveyed the true sorrow she was feeling at being unable to help. "If ever you require assistance..." she trailed off. What could she possibly do that he had not already tried?

Being alone didn't bother the poor stallion, in fact most would say after observing him that he indeed prefered to be alone. It was more for the fact that he was afraid of disapproval. When he met someone, it wasn't unusual to never see them again until way, way into the future. The stallion had merely become accustomed to 'just Bliss'.

Although something about the want to see his only son was stronger then this emotionless...feeling. Constantely seeing Vanilla Swirl and only her was bugging him, and that stallion looked like a miniature Bliss with color, his father could do nothing but want to at least talk to him...just see how he was living.

But to think that Soqui could possibly not be safe, or even dead didn't even cross the poor stallion's mind once since the disappearance of him. No harm ever came it's way toward Bliss so why would it ever even go near Soqui? And plus, Soqui had (thankfully) inherieted Milkshake's smarts, the world was probably a lot easier for his son.

"Thanks." Bliss mumbled, trying his best to keep up a cheery tone and succeeding. "If I what? Uh...he's out there, I just know it, Vanilla Swirl, my daughter said that he's probably in a field somewhere flirting with girls or just making friends. I'm not worried, I'm just..."

He paused for a moment, and looked at Evelyn carefully. She was very pretty, and all of a sudden the pain of never seeing Milkshake had lifted. "...uh...concerned. I'm a Father whether I like it or not, and they're my responsibility..."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 14, 2007 9:26 pm

The corners of Evelyn's lips twitched, fighting to curve into a charmed smile. She stubbornly suppressed it, thought it hurt to do so.

He was a Father, she reasoned. There could not be a Father without a Mother, for that was not how the world worked. She had always imagined those who have kids to be madly in love, and so that would mean that a Father and Mother would be madly in love. She was not naive (at least... not all the time...) and knew that at times there were children born of no love at all. Still, if he loves his children he must have loved their Mother... right?

The charmed side of her attempted to reason: He was responsible. He'd said it himself, hadn't he? He was worried about his son like any good father would be, and he loved his daughter. That didn't necessarily mean he loved the mother, just the children...

... Why had her thoughts strayed to matters such as this? It was not as though it made any difference to her. She had only just met him.

She arched her neck slightly, meaning to seem aloof but only succeeding in accentuating her fine features. Rain cascaded about her in little waterfalls, clinging to her hair like pearls before dropping to join the growing puddles on the ground.

"It is sweet of you to think such..." ...flirting with girls... making friends... it sounded reasonable, for a stallion. A thought struck her. "Perhaps, if you know of any places that pretty mares frequent, you could look there for this son of yours?"

As if to answer the mare's silent question, Bliss only shrugged. "Milkshake, though, their Mother...hasn't been seen my me or Vanilla Swirl in a while. We both think she's either off with Soqui somewhere, or just...gone. I used to...care for her, but I can't anymore." The stallion tore his gaze from the grey mare, as it almost hurt to look at someone pretty. It reminded him all too well of Milkshake and their past, and he couldn't bare it sometimes.

"They were a mistake, our children. We were two young, innocent and mildy -ignorant- best friends who wanted nothing more in the world then to be closer. Her pregnancy...scared us both. I...we never really loved eachother." He grinned, finally realizing that maybe, just maybe, they weren't meant to be as a couple. Like he had just told Evelyn, they were a complete mistake, and wouldn't exist had it not been for that fateful night.

Purple eyes finally got the courage to look back up at the mare, and he watched as rain poured from her whole body. "Uh, well I'm standing right next to one, and I don't see him in sight." Bliss laughed, shifting his heavy body in all the rain. It was so damn hard to think with all this wetness.

"How about we go somewhere...dry...and continue this?"
