I got it.
And you do need to switch codes to play against friends, but you also can randomly play againt anyone online.
And the codes are different from our friend codes.

To get your codes you have to go into the wi-fi battle in the game and go to friendrooster...I think or was it a chicken. Well around there anyway. I hope that helped... xp
