plz, talk away...

It depends
If you're a teeenager or a child running away from home, think twice. If you don't have funds, a car, a place to stay. Might as well stay home. If you're running away because of abuse, call the cops and run to a friend's house or something.

if you're an adult running away and it's due to abuse. Be very careful and call the cops as soon as you're away from the house.
If you're an adult running off with another person than your spouse & spouse doesn't abuse you...I say stick witht the spouse and see if whatever the hell's making you cheat and run off can be talked about and worked through. Cause running off with someone else is really mean & hurtful.
Those are opinions in lamest terms.

My mother was a runaway. It's not really a good idea. But I've had to talk people out of that one a lot. Running away doesn't really help, it just makes everything worse because then you are hungry, the cops are after you, and often the problem is not resolved. I think a better solution is moving out, trying to communicate, trying to fix the problem. Adults shouldn't have to run away in my opinion. The only reason I can fathom an adult running away is if their life is in danger. And that is when you go to the cops and ask for help/shelter/protection agency/whatever.

an adult can run away from home for several reasons. Most common, that I know of, are
1) run-away is having an affair and is running away with said lover
2) run-away is recieving abuse from their spouse or significant other.
other reasons could be drug usage (say r.a. is on drugs, spouse or whoever doesn't like. r.a. says 'screw you' and takes off). Fleeing responsibilites. Wife & Mother cna't take it anymore, flies the coop. Stuff like that.

EDIT: I just looked at my first post. the 'you' was to runaways in general. felt 'you' was easier to type than 'the runaway' over and over.

I am sorry to hear about that. I feel that there are too many cases of men running away from wives and children. I'm happy for you that he returned. Congratulations.

I think it's childish.
It's really as simple as that, like you're living in your own selfish fantasy world.

Dangerous, and risky.
I once tried to run away when I was around...maybe eight, but my mom caught me. I don't remember why I tried it; I was a little scared, but I guess I must've been peeved about something she did. Typically.
